Ginger garlic sauerkraut sounds awesome! See if your SIL has any coriander seed in her pantry... adds such nice favour. If you have access to some CUCUMBERS (you ARE in the home of cucumber sandwiches, right?!) you can make a nice raw probiotic cucumber pickle too - dill and corriander seeds, onion... YUM.
