Hello dear community of HIVE! Today I tell you about my sunday, in which I did one of my favorite hobbies: to cultivate.
Ever since I was a little boy, in my home country, Venezuela, I had this dream that one day I would live in a big house very far from everything, but very in touch with nature, with a nice landscape, with good weather, many green plants everywhere, colors by fruits and flowers, and a lot of animals.
Of course, this is the dream of somebody whose family would always take to the countryside, ride horses, get the oranges from the trees, and the avocados, to help raise and feed the dogs, chickens, the pig, and so on. I am a countryside person, I have come to realize while I get older, and so in my mind, I have never stopped thinking that one day I will be there in my house next to some nice hills or valleys.
I love to take care of plants, how you might have seen in my previous posts about cannabis. But it is not only cannabis I like to cultivate, because since I was a child I had this idea of collecting every single seed I could reach to sow it and nurture it to see a plant growing. Of course, as a child, I could completely comprehend the huge complexity that it requires to take care of different species of plants, with their specific necessities that are determined of course by the location they are originally from on the planet. Some varieties of plants are truly endemic to just one place on earth because it is the only place that gets all the conditions necessary for its perfect development.
All of this I learned when I studied Biology, for my love of plants and animals. I learned A LOT, even though I never completed my career and would never apply that knowledge to earn my income. Now that I understand the plants better, I feel like I could do some smart gardening trying to read how to make seeds of any kind germinate, and then, one day I will plant them in my dream house in the country.
So this Sunday I decided to take a long walk to stretch my legs and my mind, and take a little bit of sun because it's good too for the absorption of vitamin D. Near to my place there is a road to walk beside a huge building that is a bank I think, and this building has a large fence with a climbing plant that I love since I first saw it.
I have seen how it thrives in this weather and begin to flower in the late spring almost summer, and then by the end of summer and mid-autumn-like now, it produces this red fruit that looks like a berry and because I know this is where the seeds are, I took some of them in a plastic bag.
So later that day I took some empty plastic pots I had here in my house, with fertile soil, and I began to examine the fruits, and the seeds that contained, black and very small. I sow the seeds and put some water on them.
I was doing a little research on the internet and this plant that I like so much it's called Crataegus, possibly Van Heden, and it is native of Missouri, and widely used in gardening to cover fences for they are beautiful, and they provide pretty white flowers and this berry-like red fruits, which serve as food resource for many species of birds and insects. They have thorns too.
So maybe one day I will have this large fences to put my future little Crataegus plants, and other fruit trees, berries, and flowers.
I hope to get back to you soon as I am currently trying to cultivate other seeds I have been collecting, like lemon seeds, pear, and other fruits I commonly buy in groceries shops. Maybe we together can make the world green again, and revert as we can the damage we have created over the years with so much felling and deforestation.
Regards!
Cesar.
Ooh I love these plants too, I see them around sometimes when I'm walking as well. The color of the berries is so beautiful. To borrow @riverflows' blessing, may all your seeds sprout! :)
Thank you for your kind wishes!

I love your dream and I think collecting these seeds, will be the start of something great for you. I wish you every success in their growth.
Lovely post and the red berries are such a lovely contrast to the green leaves in your photos.
