Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine originated in the ancient Vedic times of India. There is various formulations and herbs mention in Ayurveda which are useful to improve immunity and helps to fight various viral infections.
I regularly use ginger, turmeric, black pepper directly or indirectly to improve my immunity and for symptomatic treatment of cold and cough.
Ginger and black pepper are must-have for my regular tea, Turmeric is very effective when you suffer from cold and cough. Turmeric milk is good preparation for that.
Here I am sharing a herbal formula which can be prepared at home easily and also pleasant in taste also.
Ingredients
Turmeric powder 2tsp
Black pepper 1 tsp
Fresh ginger 50 gm
Clove buds 1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds 1 tsp
Jaggery powder/Sugar 50 gm
Procedure to prepare
- Wash fresh ginger thoroughly to remove all dirt on it. Peel and chop it.
- Blend all ingredients together(except jaggery) to make a paste in a mixer.
- Now add 250 ml water to this paste and bring it to a boil.
- Add jaggery powder and simmer for about 10 minutes or till it reduces to half, on low flame.
- Cool down to room temperature filter it and store in a tightly closed glass container. Can be used for up to seven days when stored in refrigerated.
Use
Mix 1tbsp of this syrup with about 20 ml of warm water and take sip like soup.
Use up to 3-4 times a day.
