Leaves burst from dried husks:
life turned temporary.
Warmth descends to rearrange —
nature — supernumerary.

Digits spring and pile upon the limbs
of branching fates that fold and twist
revealing circumstance vine-crownèd:
fingers brush new sprouts away as if to further glimpse
into the orange horizon where new cities build themselves unseen.

As sightless as these lurching hands through fog
are eyes emblazoned by harsh sun.
Half-asleep, their shutters tremble:
R.E.M.-pulse-livened limb — one more to sum
unto the mass of woodcut figurines
mythologized by hyperbolic craft —
aesthetic homage.

Fore and aft the moorèd dinghies shift
on currents wat'ry — wind and flame
are pulling strings of puppet-planet
making sing and dance the same.

Forests creak and groan
with burning knowledge of harsh years
and huddle towards the secret center:
grove untouched by mortal fears.

Leaves burst from singed ash:
life incendiary.
Vacuum-chill, those warm huts
built by luminary.

The universe is a tough place to survive. The ebs and flows of the gravitational pull makes for the occasional spring and rebirth for sure. Let us all huddle and find that secret, nourishing heart of our forests.
