Main Ingredient used to make the toothpaste?
- Siwak (Miswak) powder
Siwak (or Miswak) comes from the plant Salvadora persica. It is also called wood dent and toothbrush tree.

It has been used for centuries instead of toothpaste, and most commonly as a chewing stick.
The benefits of siwaka are numerous:
- protects against gum disease
- antibacterial action
- prevents the formation of dental plaque
- removes bad breath
- helps whiten teeth

In addition to Siwaka, we will also use iris root powder which is traditionally used for teeth whitening.
We will add the essential oil of peppermint and clove. Clove has traditionally been used for all types of inflammation and infections of the oral cavity. Clove first acts as an analgesic, and at the same time has a very strong antibacterial effect.
There are also baking soda, calcium carbonate and xylitol.

Ingredients for toothpaste powder
- calcium carbonate 18 g
- siwak powder 12 g
- baking soda 2 g
- iris root powder 2 g
- xylitol 8 g
- peppermint essential oil 15 drops
- clove leaf essential oil 3 drops
The process of making toothpaste
Chop the xylitol in a mixer first. Then mix all the powders in a glass beaker, and add the essential oils. Shake everything well to blend the essential oils with the powders.
Store in a glass jar.
How to use toothpaste powder?
Moisten a toothbrush and immerse it in a jar of powder. Brush your teeth as usual. Add more powder as needed.
