When things go wrong in life, it's time to start finding a consolation. The simplest way is through gratitude. This action of appreciation usually helps me grounding myself and remind myself about things that I can nurture in my life instead of looking through the other fences. It truly is easy to look at high reels of others when our own life feels like a pile of shit. So, gratitude helps with switching back our perspective to focus again on ourselves.

Over the years, I learned that gratitude means being truly thankful and not being shy to express my appreciation to others who helped me in my day-to-day life. Prior knowing this, I never really express anything to people. I could careless about someone else's life though they contribute significantly in my life. I live my life very proud and individualist. But after having gone through a lot, I realized I could barely make it without some people and things in my life. Even today, it would take me some shitty days before I practice gratitude again and come into this realization.

Ideally, it's always best to practice gratitude daily or weekly. Though I still fail to do it, I am trying to be more consistent. We can start with saying things we are grateful about even if it's as simple as food, shelter, or basic needs. For me, gratitude makes me aware of how much I have and how I truly treasure them. It helps me find a balance between hedonism and stoicism as I could never separate myself from materialistic views of life. Hence why, gratitude serves as balance in my life.

You might have different approach to life but I think, it's best to incorporate gratitude in our life. Just as I try to be more grateful in my daily life.

I was reading today that one of the positives of coronavirus is that a lot of people have started a gratitude practice. It's an amazing tool!

Indeed! I am hoping when people start being a bit more grateful, the world will be slight a better place.
