The Importance of Self-Inquiry in Relation to Wellness:
Self-Inquiry is the first step in improving one's overall health and personal growth. Self-Inquiry is introspection, which is of paramount importance. Taking the time to acknowledge who we are and our identity, by thinking about life, our purpose and our place in this world.
Psychologically, we all have needs and feel that the purpose of our lives is to fulfill those needs, so we have motivations that drive us towards accomplishing them. However, we are all individuals in this world and we all have different experiences, mindsets and challenges, therefore, self-inquiry plays the vital role in gaining wisdom and connecting with our truth and inner self. Also, self-inquiry causes us to pause for a moment; this pause can shift our brainwaves by giving us insight and clarity into our desires, direction, and aspirations which inspires us and keeps us grounded and focused, and develops our self belief. So I would dare say that self-inquiry facilitates a positive change in our behaviour, mindset, outlook on life and improves our overall wellness.
In essence, "we are born an original, why live like a copy?" Know yourself, know your worth, build your self esteem, and in turn you will be a better person to yourself and a nicer human being to others, which is a fundamental contribution to your overall wellness and society.

It's like stripping yourself back and removing all the blinders and achieving SELF ACCEPTANCE! Setting the mind free! Becoming totally SELF-AWARE!

So, how does this self-awareness support health?
Being self aware means having the ability to look within one's self to get a clear view of our beliefs, thoughts, emotions, motivations and who we are in general.
This ability supports our journey to inner wisdom and self-awareness is important for you to know "you". Sometimes problems arise because people are unaware. To support your overall health, you need to know what makes you happy, your happy place, your thought patterns, your personal beliefs, what your emotional triggers are. All these can be achieved through self-exploration in the way of soul-searching. Being aware of yourself and accepting yourself the way you are, reduces stress. Lack of self-awareness can result in you not being adaptable to change, or not accepting your life the way it is, not necessarily by our personal goals and desires, but from what society has brainwashed us into thinking that there's only one way to success.

Spending time in nature is my "happy place"; Moving, stretching, balancing, focusing are my "happy activities"; Orange is my "happy colour". The sea is perfect for my meditation, so vast is the sea, I could look at it everyday and it takes my mind to a different place.

Self-Awareness makes you better able to deal with stress and to achieve happiness: We live in such a success driven society that we sometimes forget how to live. What is success? People equate money with success and people tend to stress about money even if their basic physiological needs of breathing, food, water, shelter etc are being fulfilled.
This comes on to humans needing to feel safe. Safety in terms of having stability whether in employment, housing, family, health. All these factors contribute to one achieving self-actualization which begins the moment you take the time to become self-aware.
My fervent belief is that living in the present, by becoming self-aware, is the only time that we have control over is what truly matters, what will really support our health and the only way we will actually learn to fly!
