Happy sunday!

Once upon a time...

... the Patroness of Flowers set out on a journey. She wished to ask the flowers where, of all places in the world, they most liked to live.
First, she met Tulip, who preferred the gardens of a castle, where a princess would care for her and adore her beauty. Rose, worried about her delicate nature, wanted to grow on thick castle walls that could protect her from harm. And Violet, also concerned about her safety as well as losing her good looks, chose to be among tall trees that could shelter her from the sun, preferably at a spot with a nearby calm stream of water so she could cool her roots.

Answers like these brought little excitement to the flower patroness's journey, and she continued a little disillusioned and sad until suddenly something bright and yellow caught her eye. It was a flower growing in between some rocks: Dandelion.

The patroness greeted her and asked her the same question. Delighted, the flower answered. Most of all, she wanted to be in the fields where she could watch children play. She wanted to grow beside the roads, among big stones, on every little patch in need of brightening up, at every place where she could bring a smile.
And smile, the patroness did upon hearing these words, and she blessed Dandelion with a long growing season. And her wish to grow really anywhere was granted as well.

We all know that being joyful helps, but can healing really be as simple as that?

Of course, more than just a smile is needed to maintain or restore good health. But thinking of how potent a medicinal herb the dandelion is and how often she is considered an unwanted weed, the story above becomes a beautiful reminder of our loss of knowledge about those simple things that are always available to us to help us be healthy and full of energy. That helps us to smile.

As inspiring as our yellow flower is, I am not here to be your dandelion. However, I will plant as many dandelion seeds for you as I can! Not literally, though, for I find myself in the Amazon rainforest, which is not the dandelion's native home. Planting her here would disturb the forest's natural balance. Instead, I will share with you all the knowledge I can find about small habits and easy medicine that can greatly improve your well-being and your life.

Amazonian life

The Amazon is also not my native ground, and I miss Europe's four seasons a lot, but I have something beautiful to do here. I am setting up a line of natural products, foods, and cosmetics at the Chaikuni Institute's Permaculture Centre in Peru. I am creating something that makes sure that fewer toxins enter the forest and people's bodies as well.

I am learning a lot with the local people which have still kept some of their traditional knowledge alive. Using our jungle internet, I am becoming a certified Naturopathic Nutrition Consultant.
But nutrition is not the only seed I will be planting here for you, and neither will I just cover how many proteins you must eat. It is true that you become what you eat, but the world of food is much more exciting than just being the building blocks of our bodies.

Here in the jungle, for example, cacao is not only used to create chocolate; it is a potent medicine as well, and it is used in spiritual ceremonies. Our dandelion can ease morning sickness when pregnant, help release stones from the bladder, and clear excess heat.
And did you know that massageing your ears can support kidney functioning and that working through emotional stress using simple techniques like TRE or EFT can reduce physical complaints as well as the visible ageing effects? And most importantly of all, did you know that when conventional doctors say that there is no cure for what you have, it only means that they don't know how to cure it? And it is possible that a different medical system does know how to help you.

The jungle of healing

Conventional medicine can perform absolute miracles in specific situations, and at times it is really advisable to accept the help of experts in this medical system as part of your healing process. However, they are not the ultimate authority on healing, as the general opinion within this field seems to be.

Acupuncture can anaesthetize people effectively enough to perform heart surgery on them, but without having the negative side effects of the anaesthesia that the conventional medical system uses. This is just one example of the expertise of the 'hocus-pocus' and 'woo-woo' healing methods that are out there.

In the jungle of 'Alternative Healing,' you can find many techniques that you can perform by yourself to heal yourself. One of the most impactful ones is simply following a healthy diet. / diet that is healthy for you.
But whatever healing method you choose, always make sure to be properly informed! Don't start microdosing on ayahuasca just because you found the opportunity to do so, and don't spend a few hundred euros on vitamin supplements after watching a 15-minute video on YouTube. Sometimes, to get the positive results that you are looking for, it can be best to work with a professional or to become a professional yourself.

Now, I do not know if there exists a cure for everything, but naturopathy does teach us that the body has an innate capacity and will to heal itself and that we can activate it when it has gone to sleep. So, if, like me, you are curious and want to know more, then join me on this journey of discovering all the awesome and easy things that we can do to help our bodies heal and maintain our good health.
