Using aquaponics farm method to provide nutrients for plants

20221004_131244.jpg

When raising fishes or other aquatic animals in a tank or constructed ponds is known as aquaponics!

This is the case of my fishes, being reared in a pond.

I can say There are so many reasons why people involved in this practices; it could be there are no spaces on land to construct an earthen pond thereby resulting into constructing a pond or sometimes for the purpose of using these waters from ponds as source of nutrients to plants, this reason in my own case.

Yes, fishes raised in this ponds or tanks, their dungs or excretes, when microbes act on them, they decomposed therefore they serves as nutrients.

This is what happens in my own case, i have a relatively small fish pond, because the available land i have I'm already using it for farming (where I grow vegetables basically). For me to have to good outcome, i utilise the water from the pond, Chanel it straight to the pond and the results are quite outstanding.

Below, are some of the pictures snapped of my plants benefitting from this process.

I think this is a healthy practices which we all can look into especially for those of us that have fishes in our ponds or tanks

It should be noted that NOT only aquaponics, is the only healthy practices, water of fishes rear in an earthen pond equally contains nutrients and if properly channelled they can supply all necessary nutrients to the plants as well

This picture right above, is showing an earthen pond of fishes, surrounded by plants especially banana trees that are well fluorish, all thanks to the nutrients from those waters.

Stay creative & hive on!

Here we omit the dirt, and use the fish excretions to fertilize the Plants raised in smooth river rocks. This is a system that releases the fish water in a flood and drain cycle.

I like the use of a normal garden with added fish droppings for fertilizer. Interesting system, that may provide better tasting plants.

Thanks for the post!

In farming whether crop or animal,... Its important to be creative with ones idea and utilize the available resources. Thats what we're trying to do here. I absolutely love your concepts.

Thanks for stopping-by and wish you success with your farm

Oh woah, i will find out more about the bio-char ... Seems you know much about the whole processes of fishing and farming generally, i would love to learn more from you, If you won't mind, is there a way i can connect with you, maybe through social media i guess.

Cheers buddy!

We can talk here, and maybe it will help someone else too.

The bio-char will render a garden fertile for centuries, very effective add! It must be loaded with good nutrients initially, usually by soaking it in compost tea. Once loaded, it will continue to gather and release beneficial nutriments and house good bacteria.

The fish emulsion can be used to load it too. Any fish leftovers when you clean your fish is a good source. Put it on water to ferment, then soak the bio-char in the emulsion.

Be blessed!

👍🤠💗😆💙🙏🌿🥦🐟

Great! I got this, i will definitely work more on this.

Thanks so much for your time!
Cheers to great week ahead!

No problem, I'm always happy to share! Aquaponics is a smart way to grow food. What is your cold temperature in the winter time? Do you have talapia available? They grow faster than most other fish do.

Stay blessed!

👍🤠💗🙏🌿🥦🐟

I wish you success also, and you have a good start! Tilapia grow faster than other fish, and they grill well too.

Aquaponics is impressive in production speed both in produce and fish.

You might look at bio-char for a final filter for water returning to the fish tanks. After it's used, it can be cut into regular fields and it will help them too!

Be blessed.
