I'm that very person that almost always feel cold;) When it's +40 outside, I feel fine, but when it's colder than +10, windy and rainy it's my hell because I feel cold fast.
It lasted 34 years of my life. A year ago I started to change my life views and atittude with cold as well.
I'm trying to win cold and feel Ok whatever.
I use cold water every morning in my shower. But it's not enough.
There is a secret...and Ice man knows it.
I've read a book of Wim Hof. I've watched movies about his phenomenon, and I try to practice his method.
The secret is in breathing. But what is this secret?
For a long time people thought that the only way to stay warm in the cold was through physical activity. But they missed the fact that with an ax or shovel in your hands you will get tired very quickly. And as soon as you stop working, you start to cool down again...
However, there is another experience: Tibetan monks or Indian yogis could be in the cold for a long time even without clothes. This means that the yogis produced a sufficient amount of heat so as not to feel the cold. Where does the heat come from?
Yes, muscles produce heat, but they warm the surrounding space. The second law of thermodynamics works - a fundamental law of nature: heat goes outside, but cannot warm the insides... Internal organs maintain a constant body temperature (about 37 degrees), and the surface of the body cools down to 28 degrees in the cold.
Soviet biophysicist (Austrian by birth) Karl Trincher in the late 1950s discovered the mechanism of heat production in... the lungs. He also discovered the conditions necessary for this. A large amount of heat is produced in the lungs, and the blood passing through the lungs warms all internal organs - during hypoxia. It is hypoxia (lack of oxygen) that triggers the mechanism of heat production in the lungs. This is how the science of biophysics explains the phenomenal results of yogis.
This means holding your breath while exhaling. You calmly inhaled, exhaled and held your breath. When you are walking down the street and feel that you are freezing, you need to hold your breath after vigorously exhaling and walk further without breathing. The warmth that was born in the lungs will begin to spread throughout the body... And you can repeat this several times until you finally warm up.
Now I practice this method, and I do see results. The body reacts ina different way on situations when I felt cold early. Whn I start this breathing, I really relax and feel warmer.
So...let's see what will be in some months of my practice.
maybe I'll name my next post about it "Ice girl":))?
Guys, what do you know about it?

Hahahaha. Ice girl!!! That image made me laugh. But certainly, I had read about breathing and temperature in the body before. Here, where I live, we would need just the opposite: stop breathing to not feel so hot. Greetings
Beautiful, @taliakerch ! Yes, I grew up in a cold country, in relative poverty, and since leaving home could never afford to properly heat my house in the winter. (One of the reasons that I now live in Italy!) But I learned in my early 20s that breathing warmed me more than effortful exercise; I never studied why, but it is good to hear your explanations here. :-D Much gratitude to you for sharing this reminder to breathe, as the cooler airs sets in of the evening!

Additionally, the wim hof method puts you at the risk of developing a permanent tinnitus, research it please.
