Having a strong sense of the purpose of life can make us a better person. When we get a clear idea of what we are doing, what needs to be done, how we can add more value can certainly bring extra in everyone's life.
But the thing is, having a strong sense of the purpose of life and being clear about the idea is not very easy. Don't worry, there are many ways to know it better so we can easily incorporate it into our lives.
Explore your interests. There is a high chance to get lots of we spend our life on something we are not interested in. So, I think this one is the first thing we should take care of.
Involve yourself with life. Don't isolate yourself or thing I should just live my life and will not involve myself in anything. The more we explore, expand our knowledge and connections the better we get the idea of life.
These two are the basic things that can help us to find the purpose of life. But we all know this is not as simple as it sounds. So we better think about what we love, what others need, how we can add value, what injustice and imbalance are going on and how can we help, etc.
Considering these can surely bring a sense of the purpose of life. Now the time is ours to incorporate this gradually without life.
Just figure out from where your discomforts are generating, what can help you minimize them. And it will probably show youths the best path to explore life in a better way.
The best thing to achieve that is to do what do you want and ignore what people would think about you. As teenager we are dumb and our actions are influenced by other people we think are better than us or even our parents.
I'm grateful that I found something that I love so much and literally it's one of the most important things I got, that is the veterinary medicine. Now I still studying it, but I had the opportunity to practice in a vet clinic of my city (I'm still there) and everyday that pass I more confident and more sure that is what I want to do in my life

You're right about not isolating yourself, sometimes we don't explore enough, we don't give ourselves a chance to see what else might be there that might interest us and change our way of thinking.
