Don't You Guys Remember This Traditional Food Of Kerala

Hello friends, hope all are fine.
Firstly, I thank #foodiesbeehive for providing me an opportunity to describe a traditional food in this contest.
Here I am going to discuss one of the traditional food in Kerala that is still considered as most favorite and still demanded.
I know you are eagerly waiting to know what is it, and it is Kerala parotta and beef fry

So, lets discuss how this traditional food combo is made.

PAROTTA

About the recipe

Parotta is a flatbread made with all-purpose flour or Maida, and has layers. Kerala parotta is also called Malabar parotta.

Ingredients

  1. All-purpose flour
  2. Egg : It gives softness to the parotta. But, vegetarians can skip this step.
  3. Salt and sugar : salt gives a flavor, whereas sugar gives a nice color to the parotta.
  4. Oil : Add some oil which keeps the dough moist.
  5. Milk : Kneading the dough with some milk will make the parotta very flaky.
  6. Baking powder : Some peoples add a pinch of baking powder into the dough.

Process

  • The dough for the parotta is made with all-purpose flour, egg, sugar, salt, oil and milk. If you are vegetarian, You can skip adding egg.
  • The dough is then divided into equal parts and are rolled into small roti.

  • Pull and spread the roti round thinly as possible, and the circle is cut into thin strips using a knife.
  • The strips are gathered together and roll to make a ball.
  • This ball is again rolled making sure the layers remains intact.
  • With greased hand, pat and spread the dough, and then roll it again slightly thick making sure that the layers are intact.
  • Grease a tawa and place the rolled parotta on the hot tawa.
  • Cook on medium flame until the base is cooked, then flip over and spread oil.

  • Cook on medium flame until both sides turn golden brown.
  • Crush the parotta gently to separate the layers.

KERALA STYLE BEEF FRY

About the recipe

Kerala style beef fry is an easy recipe with minimal ingredients.

Ingredients

  1. Beef
  2. Turmeric powder
  3. chilly powder
  4. Meat masala
  5. Garam masala
  6. Crushed ginger
  7. Garlic
  8. Curry leaves
  9. Salt
  10. coconut oil

Process

  • Clean and cut beef into small pieces and prepare all ingredients.

  • Marinate the pieces of beef with all other ingredients for 1 hour.

  • Pressure cook the marinated beef for about 20 to 30 minutes.
  • After this open the pressure cooker and if the meat is excess juicy, cook until it dried up completely.
  • Heat coconut oil in the pan and add pressure cooked beef and give a good stir.

  • Add curry leaves and cook on low flame until the beef becomes dry and crispy.

CONCLUSION

This traditional food is still being considered as an inevitable food in Kerala.
