Sweet tooth at the wrong time.
I bet there isn't a single person on the planet who has never run out of sweets in their home, at the moment you craved them the most.
Well, hello, it's me
The last few days I've been juggling between two kitchens; one of them actually serves me to make coffee and some snacks, while in the other (not mine), I always find myself cooking more substantial meals.
Not mine is in the countryside, consequently, it is more pleasant because everything is close at hand and fresh! Except for southern fruits, everything else is in mid-season right now; apples and plums are ripening. Let's not forget the watermelons!
It's nice to be able to move between two locations, but the drawback is that no matter where you go, you can never stock up on basic groceries. This entails continuous shopping, dragging the bags around, and its an extra cost.
It's Saturday, mid of the day, the sky is overcast, and I'm wanting cheese pie, literally the moment you crave it so much, almost able to feel the bite of it.
Crusts, cheese, eggs, butter, a little cumin and a pinch of salt + window.
Then the thought crossed my mind, "I want sweet—nothing sweet!"
D####t, we bought ground biscuits, only.
Even though the fruits I enjoy aren't in season right now, it's still a good idea to freeze some while the season is still in full force - sour cherry.
Eggs are a staple item that may be preserved for a few days in the refrigerator.
Butter, a few tablespoons of sugar, one teaspoon of baking soda, a half-glass of yoghurt, and crumbled cookies were literally all I had at home.
Additionally, I had 6 extra pie crusts (left from the cheese one), that I divided lengthwise to make 12 crusts, enough for two pies. Together with the dry ingredients, alternately sprinkle the sugar, eggs, yoghurt, and baking soda on the crusts.
So that the filling is completely concealed inside, tuck it in and cut it with a knife before baking.
Half an hour later, window view.
Optionally, soak it with syrup (boiled water with sugar).
Leave it overnight if you can; otherwise, let it cool and then dive in!
