Looks delicious @arrliinn! I know because Cambodia has the exact same dessert minus the tapioca pearls. I think the tapiocia pearls are a nice addition, will have to try it like that some time.

That's what I reckon, there must be different versions of this in many Asian countries. The pearls add chewiness, I like it. 😊
