I have long heard of Cut Bit restaurant. I heard about this place from my daughter who had eaten here before. He highly recommends the food at Cut Bit. He invited all our family members to eat there, except me who was out of town at that time.
The main obstacle to eating at Cut Bit is the location, which in my opinion is far from the city center. Cut Bit is located in Cot Mancang Village, Kuta Baro District, Aceh Besar, or right on the edge of Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport. So, visitors must set aside a special time to eat there.
I have planned to eat there if I happen to have a trip to Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport. Finally, when there was a flight schedule from Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport, I left early so I could enjoy the richly spiced dishes at Cut Bit.
As is typical of Aceh Besar restaurants, all types of dishes at Cut Bit are rich in spices. Surprisingly, a pioneer culinary observer in Indonesia, Bondan Winarno, actually praised the Aceh rujak at Cut Bit. During his lifetime, Bondan once reviewed Acehnese rujak at Cut Bit, which he said had very strong and distinctive spices.
The main menu here is sie reuboh or boiled meat cooked using special spices. The texture of the meat is soft so we don't need to chew it furiously. There are similar restaurants that use tough beef so that visitors lose their enjoyment.
It is not surprising that in one day, it is reported that the Cut Bit restaurant cooks no less than 200 kilograms of selected beef. Every table I saw, there was always boiled meat on the menu. Oh yes, in Aceh it's the same as other restaurants in Indonesia. Various types of dishes will be served on the table even if you don't order them. You only pay for what you eat.
Boiled meat is cooked in a large pot with spices, chilies and vinegar which has a savory and slightly spicy taste. I tried the boiled meat and enjoyed the thin sauce. This is different from the dishes in North Aceh with thick and oily sauce.
Apart from boiled meat, at Cut Bit customers can also enjoy delicious fried chicken, pliek sauce which is a mixture of dozens of types of vegetables, as well as various types of fish and other seafood.
While enjoying boiled meat with complete spices, visitors can see planes landing and taking off from Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport. Visitors can choose a seat close to the airport where there is a risk of noise, or a seat some distance away so they are not disturbed by the roar of the plane.
A little input for Cut Bit, in my opinion the rest room and prayer area should be better and more complete, in line with the price of the food which is indeed expensive for ordinary people, like me.[]
