What's better in the morning than a good breakfast with a sea view? I admit that I had been waiting for such a sunny and mild Sunday for many weeks and together with my family we preferred breakfast on the port of our city at the Champagnerie café, a historic place in the port that over the years has managed to keep a large clientele, thanks to the courtesy, quality and also the view. The tables are scattered around Piazza Quercia, a huge square redeveloped about ten years ago. To think that it used to be a horrible car park, now it is a space where children can play and adults can safely consume their drinks or food.
That said, the day stimulated many people to have the same idea as us and we had some difficulty finding a free table. Next time we will definitely try to arrive earlier. The tables are well spaced and this is good in order to avoid dangerous gatherings. Breakfast for me means coffee. Nothing gives me more pleasure than a nice cup of good bitter coffee and here quality is definitely a source of pride.
I also chose a bay of butter biscuits, very crumbly and tasty and not too sweet, perfect to accompany a bitter coffee. My wife, on the other hand, is a lover of orange juice but personally at breakfast it gives me some problems with digestion. The Champagnerie coffee shop also offers excellent handmade croissants and in the last two years it has considerably expanded the choice: from the classic croissant to cream or chocolate, it also alternates special brioches with cereal, wholemeal or turmeric dough, filled with jams produced by local companies , a guarantee of the search for products at km 0.
At lunchtime, just before we left, a delicious scent invaded the square: parades of aperitifs with various really appetizing snacks such as rustic, sandwiches, stuffed sandwiches, panzerotti, bruschetta and much more. Cocktails really beautiful to the eye and very good to taste, filled with fresh and colorful fruit. They are cocktails that really bring a lot of joy and good humor!
If you arrive in the city of Trani for a trip or for passage, I really recommend you stop for a few minutes to enjoy a coffee or a drink, comfortably seated and admiring the tourist port of the city, and in the background the bell tower of the cathedral that watches over the historic center. of the city, imposing in its figure.
