Let’s eat: The Butcher’s Daughter in Los Angeles, CA

in Foodies Bee Hive2 years ago (edited)

In our last trip to Los Angeles one of the places we really enjoyed was The Butcher’s Daughter and unlike its name it’s a vegetarian one. We felt that since we were in a very vegetarian and vegan friendly city, we needed to try at least one restaurant of this kind.

We are not vegetarian, but we don't eat meat every day either. And personally, I don`t like vegetarian food that tries too hard to be something like meat. Instead, I like when the veggies are cooked properly and according to its nature. This way, most of the time, you’ll get surprising flavors and textures.

The restaurant is located in Venice and since it was our first time here, we parked the car and started walking from the traditional Venice Beach Boardwalk to the Venice Beach canals. The canals are small, just 2 by 4 blocks, but it is worth the short walk to explore it.

After the canals we headed to Abbot Kinney Blvd. A little road filled with stores and restaurants with a very cool vibe. Over there is located The Butcher’s Daughter, in the picture you can see the entrance of the restaurant.

The restaurant design was very cool, you get a lot of light, wood and felt very natural with a chic design.

Now the food! All the menu was vegetarian and some of it was vegan, and they had regular and vegan cheese options.

To start we ordered something that looked like a Crab cake, but it was made of jackfruit, Quinoa and sweet potato. This was vegan, gluten free and it was really nice. It has the texture of a crab cake, but not the flavor. I definitely have it again.

Then we shared 2 main courses. The first one and maybe my favorite of the night was a Zucchini & Ricotta Pizza. It was vegan and the Ricotta cheese was made from Cashew Nuts and it was celestial.

We also ordered the burger and they had 2 options the now classic impossible burger and the Classic Butcher’s Burger. We had the classic burger ant the patty or “meat” was made from Beet and Akua Kelp. And it was interesting. As you can see in the picture it looked really tasty and the flavor was different but really nice. I really enjoyed it and didn’t missed the meat.

We accompany our dinner with some kind of juice with a touch of mezcal.

So, what do you think? If you’re vegetarian or not, would you try it?

Dear @elteamgordo, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago when the HBD stabilizer proposal rose above it.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work?
