Spaghetti Arrabbiata and Iced Lemongrass Tea for Lunch at Stepping Stone Cafe

This time, I'm back to Foodies Be Hive Community, for that joy and passion. I want to share a story about my culinary experience at one of the cafes or restaurants in my city that I visited some time ago. Stay tuned, my culinary journey this time.

Get Vouchers, Get Special Food
Some time ago, I got a prize after taking a quiz on Instagram. I don't know, if the quiz has very interesting prizes. I got a lunch coupon at one of the most aesthetic restaurants or cafes in my city, The Stepping Stone. I've been to this place two or three times, but only for coffee. This time, I was lucky to be able to have lunch at that café, because I know The Stepping Stone is a café and restaurant that has quite expensive food prices for me.

On the food voucher that I got, I could choose one of the four main course menus for my lunch. The menu that I can choose from is Basil Fried Rice, Mercon Oseng Chicken Rice, Padang Sauce Chicken Rice, Spaghetti Arrabbiata. For the choice of drinks, I get iced lemongrass tea for free. Voucher exchange can only be done from 11 am to 2 pm only.

So, because I'm an Indonesian and really bored to eat rice. I chose to order the spaghetti Arrabbiata menu for my meal this time.

Spaghetti Arrabbiata

My order was served not too long, I only waited for about 10 minutes, my food and drinks were served by the service. I really appreciate it when food and drinks are delivered together. Some restaurants will often deliver drinks in advance if the food serving will take a long time. I once had an experience when the drink I ordered ran out before the food I ordered at this restaurant was served at my table.

How about the photos of the spaghetti that I took? I try to take the best angle that can make you feel this food. I believe, the display for food presentation can stimulate suggestions for better taste. We can see, one portion of spaghetti is garnished with pieces of tomato, and also parsley leaves. Apart from that, I also like the chef's way to give the spaghetti a black plate. The contrast of the yellow spaghetti and red arrabbita sauce makes this dish even more beautiful.

This is my first experience trying spaghetti with arrabbiata souce. Usually I often eat spaghetti with bolognese sauce or carbonara sauce. I thought, I was lucky enough to have a chance to try it.

One mouthful of this spaghetti entered my mouth. I tried to describe the taste with one word, namely "Spicy". Looking at the texture, I think it's similar to Bolognese sauce. I was quite surprised because I very rarely find European food that has a biting spicy taste. However, since I have never tried authentic Italian arrabbiata sauce, I still suspect that this sauce was calibrated and adapted to the Indonesian palate.

The sauce uses ingredients such as tomatoes, shallots, garlic, olive oil and seems to have a very large amount of dried chilies added. For the texture of the spaghetti, in my opinion, the maturity level is perfect, not soft and not hard, al dente. I think, Stepping Stone doesn't differentiate the quality and taste for the food that I bought with discount voucher. Iced Lemongrass Tea
Next, I want to discuss about the Lemongrass Tea that is being served. In Asian society, lemongrass tea is a variant of tea that is popular and enjoyed by many people. Lemongrass tea is preferred because apart from its delicious taste, it is believed to have many benefits for drinkers. Many people, like my grandmother and mother, believe that drinking lemongrass tea can reduce fever or relieve stomach pain. The belief in these herbs makes lemongrass almost found in the yards of Indonesian homes.

I immediately tried this drink. Before I drink it, this lemongrass tea has a very strong aromatic. After I tried and tasted it, it tasted very fresh and perfect for reducing the spicy taste of the spaghetti arrabbita that I ate earlier. The sourness of the lemon, the sweetness of the sugar, and the freshness of the lemongrass come together to create a delicious composition. I love this drink, and the plan is to duplicate this drink at home.

Oh yes, even though there is the word "tea", Lemongrass Tea does not use tea, but the process of boiling lemongrass so that it emits a fragrant aroma and makes it taste warm. Then add sugar and lemon. We think it's like that.
