Sometimes, it can be boring serving the same plain bread every day. Right? I admit I like bread and it has been part of our morning meal, especially for rush breakfasts. But if I eat it the same way every day can get a bit boring. So, one day, I thought of something different. I didn’t buy a new kind of bread, though. I decided to make something new with the plain bread I already had. I just gave it a little twist.
Now, take out your plain loaf of bread. Separate the crust from the crumb. Save the crumb for a while because we'll repurpose the crust first.

Next, roll the crust into something like this. Lock it with a toothpick on the side so it won't fall apart.

Afterward, melt some margarine in a pan. You can use butter if you have some.

Then, fry the rolled crust in the pan until golden brown and crispy.

The next step is to cook the fried crust in caramelized sugar. Since we have caramelized sugar for the shop, I don't need to make one.

This process adds some sweetness to the crust, which complements the margarine's saltiness. It will also make the crust crispier!

Let's take out the crumb I saved. For these crumbs, I spread some margarine on them and toast them in the waffle maker. Glad I have something like this, which I can use to repurpose food like plain bread.

You can add sugar syrup if you want, but I prefer the margarine's saltiness. It looks like waffle bread since it was toasted in the waffle maker.

I combined both on the same plate, spread some chocolate syrup on the bread waffles, and added a scoop of ice cream on the side. The result was perfect! It's not a boring bread anymore.

The next day, we bought some pandesal bread. It's a typical Filipino bread that we eat in the morning. The idea came when I saw the syrups I use for my mini donut and waffle business. I spread some chocolate, matcha, and ube syrups onto the pandesal.

I added cheese to the ube flavor, choco chips to the chocolate flavor, and crushed graham to the matcha flavor.

They look so perfect!
I love the matcha flavor the most, my mom likes the ube with cheese, and my siblings like the chocolate flavor.

When I started this experiment, I realized how easy it was to make something new without needing new ingredients. All it takes is a bit of creativity. Each one brought a new flavor and a reason to look forward to breakfast again.
So if you’re stuck with the same plain bread every day, don’t toss it or settle for the usual. Try something new!
Thanks for your time.

I remember cooking for some Home Care clients in my Community Nursing days. A patient always left the crust after his meal. This would have been a clever idea to help encourage my patient to eat an adequate diet.

WOW! Thanks for sharing this tip on how to add sweetness to bread. I might try it another time because I'm a little bored with the uniform taste if bread from bakeries. hehe
Share with us how you'll make a different version of your plain bread hehe
That's right, just a little creativity will result in extraordinary dishes. Eating bread the same way every day is boring, so you did a great job.
Thanks. you can try it too
Ohhh, I love the first one madam, it looks more masarap. I also like that you include the loaf bread edges. Like walang sayang. UwU
