Elevating a Simple Fish Dish: Honey-Glazed Fish Ball for Dinner

in Foodies Bee Hive2 years ago (edited)

Hello, everyone!

I know being a full-time mother or a father who's always in charge of preparing dinner for the family is not easy. It's quite tough to think of what to cook next every day. And I do have high respect for them for always preparing not just delightful but nourishing meals for the family.

This weekend, I understood how tough it is to think of a new dish to prepare when I saw this fish that's been locked up for two weeks already in the freezer. If these fish could talk, maybe they would already complain because they are sick and tired of getting fried, lol.

Kidding aside, this weekend, an idea popped up in my mind regarding how to prepare the fish with a twist to try and taste something new.

And with this, it's with a happy heart that I share with you the recipe for my honey-glazed fish ball.

Ingredients:

▪ 1/2 kilo fish (galunggong/mackerel scad)
▪ 3 pieces carrots
▪ corn starch
▪ 1 piece egg
▪ honey

Recipe:

▪ First, I cooked and simmered the fish in vinegar and a small amount of water. I also sprinkled it with a little bit of salt and pepper. In Visayan terms, we call it "inun-unan".

▪ Once the fish is cooked, I wait for a few minutes to let it cool down for a while.

▪ Next, I flaked the fish into tiny pieces.

▪ And then, I started to chop the carrots into tiny pieces.

▪️After that, I mixed the flaked fish and tiny pieces of carrots.

▪️ And added it with scrambled egg and corn starch. I also added a small amount of salt and pepper.

▪️And then, I shaped them into round balls.

▪ Next, I deep-fried the fish balls.

▪ Next, I glazed honey by heating it and added it with a little bit of pepper. I preferred to add it to the dish to elevate the flavor of the fish.

▪ For the final touches, I pour the glazed honey on top of the fish ball.

And with this simple dish that elevated a boring fish into something enticing meal, dinner is ready, everyone!
