Askara Cafe & Roastery

In a small town like the one I am living in, it’s almost impossible for a place to serve a real gourmet meal. But recently, there’s a new place in town, Askara Coffee, blending a roastery experience with a restaurant styled menu, that was not quite disappointing.

At this point in life, I had enough. I wasn’t as excited as I was 8 years ago or something trying a new restaurant. It’s almost like nothing quite impressed me anymore. But since I am always up-to-date with places in town, so there I was, checking out this recently opened roastery and restaurant with my mom and later with my friend.

The first time I came with my mom, we only ordered their specialty coffee and drinks. We didn’t really try the food there but when I was with my friend, I was ordering their chicken parmigiana which was served with chips and salad. The chicken parmigiana was quite decent with a good portion. I loved that they served it with chips rather than fries. It is also not that soggy which was another good point for this meal.

According to my friend who loves cheesecake, they were up to par. It wasn’t the melt on your mouth type of cheesecake but just good enough to satisfy one’s craving. But look at that clean plating!

Our dining experience there wasn’t that great. We tried to sit down in the AC room but got told to move away as someone had seated there despite there being no “reserved” sign on the table. It was pretty annoying as it was from a customer rather than the waitress or the staff of the place.

It left quite a bit of a bad impression on us given the place that we were seated on was upstairs without AC. A bit disgruntled with the whole ordeal, we hardly enjoyed our food and that’s probably why it’s written like this one 🤣and since then I’ve never returned.

But I love their food, it’s just that the place and the service, they need some improvement. They could also add more AC area than just the one downstairs. Maybe I’ll come back again in a year or something and see if they make some real improvements to the place.

Considering that the place just recently opened, perhaps it was why the place was packed and too many people in the place. That’s why they’ve got some weird customers. From my experience, typically these types of customers would go away and would only buy in for the hype. So, maybe I'll come back or maybe I won't but I'd rate the food 7.5 out of 10.

📸You take such appetizing
photos of food.😋I'm currently
trying to make keto egg tarts,
and if they turn out looking
good, I'll share a picture with
you. I've been thinking of you.😘

I can't to read your recipe on it! I bet that would be so fantastic, I tried making some egg tarts but they're certainly not a keto friendly 😂 Do you cook a lot of Keto friendly recipes?

I just let Clay taste it.He’s on keto.He loves peanut butter cookies.

Ehhh, that's a bot so nice experience in there. I'll be annoyed if someone asked me to move away, especially if I'm already enjoying the AC. But seriously, why they don't have the AC in the other floor. Is that like a "limited edition spot" only? You still rater their foods a lil higher, shows it is that good. I'm curious how would you rate it after a year or two.

That cheesecake plating really caught my attention so clean and elegant. Although the service experience wasn’t the best, haha. I think that made the place more unforgettable for you. It even made you think of visiting it again.
