MEAL PLAN | Honey Glaze Tofu with Black Beans, Creamy Squash and String Beans Soup, at Veggie Sinigang

How's the Hive community? Another blog is here to give you a few ideas for yummy and nutritious weekly food preparations. This is for people who want to avoid types of foods that are too fatty, oily, and sweet. Stuffing yourself with too much of those I said is dangerous to you. We only lived once but it's better to flourish it and be cautious. This little life we have is only borrowed. Spare ourselves from the stress of getting medical treatment. We all knew that we cannot afford that in the Philippines, people who have money are the only one who has the privilege for hospital access.

The menu for the first week of July is Honey Glaze Tofu with Black Beans, Creamy Squash, and String Beans Soup, at Veggie Sinigang. Come'on and let's get this on!

Kumusta mga mamayan ng Hive? Isa nanamang blog na magbibigay sa inyo ng konting mga ideya sa paghahanda ng masarap at masustansiyang pagkain. Ito ay para sa inyong mga umiiwas sa matataba, mamantika, at matatamis na pag-kain. Pagiging matakaw sa mga ito ay nakasasama sa iyo. Minsan lang tayo mabubuhay sa mundo pero mas mabuting ingatan natin dahil hiram lang buhay na ito. At iwas stress sa pagpapagamot. Alam niyo naman dito sa Pilipinas, mga may pera lang ang may karapatan sa hospital.
Ang menu sa unang linggo ng Hulyo ay Honey Glaze Tofu with Black Beans, Creamy Squash and String Beans Soup, at Veggie Sinigang. Tara na at simulan na nating matuto!

Why Honey Glaze Tofu with Black Beans?

To give a slice of cake, last July 1 when we're on the way home from Cavite. We spend lunch at Max Restaurant and ordered Chicken, Chopsuey, Fish Fillet with Black Beans. What I mostly liked is the Fish Fillet with Black Beans because of the umami after-taste. The half-cooked bell pepper is just perfect and felt the crunch wrapped around Fish Fillet. While inside, it was the soft white meat on the cream dory. The ingredient of this dish is doable, I immediately thought I could remake this at home. On the other hand, I choose Tofu over the original ingredient cream dory. My previous readers from my Meal Plan blogs gets why I loved to replace meat with tofu.

Bakit Honey Glaze Tofu with Black Beans?
Share ko lang, noong July 1 na lumabas kami pauwi galing Cavite. Naabutan na kami ng lunch sa daan kaya napakain kami sa Max Restaurant. Ang order namin ay Chicken, Chopsuey, at Fish Fillet with Black Beans. Pinakanagustuhan ko yang Fish Fillet with Black Beans kasi malasa siya ang sarap nung paghalf-cook nong bell pepper at ramdam ko yung pagka-crunchy nong Fish Fillet sa labas. Habang sa loob naman ay ang lambot ng putting cream dory. Simple lang ang ingredients kaya naisip ko gawin din ito sa bahay pero pinalitan ko yung sa cream dory ng tofu. Sa mga dati ng nagbabasa ng Meal plan ko, alam na nila kung bakit paborito ko ito isahog pamalit sa karne.

Honey Glaze Tofu with Black Beans Recipe

  • 6pcs. Tofu
  • 3 pcs. Red Bell Pepper
  • 6 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 1 thumb of ginger (minced)
  • 1 can of 180g Temple Brand Salted Black Beans
  • 1pc. Mama Sita's Oyster Sauce
  • 2pc. Egg
  • 1pc of 62g Crispy Fry Breading Mix
  • 3tsp Honey
  • 1 cup of water
  • Cooking Oil

Let's Cook It!

1.) Deep fry the tofu until it's light brown. Do not overcook it because we will fry it again later. Cut it into smaller cubes once cooked.
2.) Dip the tofu to beaten eggs, then roll it in the breading mix.
3.) Fry the tofu once step 2 is done. Wait until it's golden brown.
4.) Sautee the bell pepper, garlic, and ginger all together in low heat for 3mins.
5.) Rinse the black beans until the black liquid from the can washes off to lessen the saltiness.
6.) Toss the black beans and tofu in the pan with sauteed bell pepper, garlic, and ginger.
7.) Put 1 cup water and Honey. Mix well.
8.) Put Oyster Sauce. In medium heat until the sauce becomes glazy with the tofu.

Why Creamy Squash and String Beans Soup?

I like the natural sweetness I get when squash and milk was combined. So delicious! I added string beans because I think the nutty flavor that it gives will blend very well.

Bakit Creamy Squash and String Beans Soup?
Gusto ko yung natural na tamis ng pinaghalong kalabasa at gatas. Napaka-sarap! Dinagdagan ko ng string beans kasi bagay din nutty flavor nabibigay nito.

Creamy Squash and String Beans Soup Recipe

  • A quarter from whole Squash, cut it to wedges
  • 2 bonds of string beans cut into bite-size length
  • 6 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 1pc onion (minced)
  • 1 Evaporated Milk 370ml
  • 1/2 cup of water

Let's Cook It!

1.) Pan-fry the squash and string beans until soft with garlic and onion.
2.) Pour the water and evaporated milk in the pan.
3.) Cook for 5 mins in low heat.


Why Veggie Sinigang?

Sinigang is one of the best dishes that I can cook. And this one is different compare to traditional Sinigang that everybody loves. My mixture is too sour, thickened with taro root. Charles learned this recipe from his late Auntie Happy. We really enjoyed the sourness of this soup. That's why we don't appreciate thin consistency and bland Sinigang.

Because I don't like to eat pork, and Charles still does…I only eat vegetables from it. At first, I thought I cannot enjoy the vegetable of Sinigang alone. But I'm surprised that it still tastes great!

Bakit Veggie Sinigang?
Sinigang ang isa sa pinaka the best na ulam na kaya kong lutuin. Iba ito sa tradisyonal na sinigang na trip ng marami. Dahil sobrang asim talaga ng timpla ko at pinalapot pa ng gabi. Ang recipe na ito ay mula pa sa tiyahin ni Charles na si Auntie Happy. Sarap na sarap kami sa asim ng sabaw ng sinigang. Kaya naman hindi kami nasisiyahan sa malabnaw at matabang na Sinigang.
Dahil ayoko na ng pork, si Charles nalang ang kumakain ng sinigang na may pork at ang sa akin ay mga gulay nalang non. Nung una, kala ko nga hindi na masarap pag wala ng karne ng baboy pero parehas lang wala naman nagbago.

Veggie Sinigang Recipe

  • 3pcs Large Eggplant Diagonal Oval Cut
  • 2pcs Large Radish Diagonal Oval Cut
  • 4pcs. Medium Size Taro Root
  • 2 cups of water spinach leaves
  • 2 sachet of Knorr Sinigang mix in gabi (sobrang asim nito pag ito nilagay mo promise!)
  • 6pcs. Tomato
  • 1 clove of garlic (minced)
  • 2pc. Onion (minced)
  • 3ocs. chopped green chili
  • 3 cups of water

Let's Cook It!

1.) Boil the taro root, onion, garlic, and tomato in 3 cups of water. Cook until taro is soft.
2.) Now put the Sinigang seasoning powder. Mix well! Stir for another 5 mins.
3.) Add the Radish, Eggplant. Cook for 3mins.
4.) Last but not the least, add the water spinach leaves and green chili. Cook for another 3mins.


3 days to go before I celebrate my 4th month in dieting. I still have no idea what kind of eating lifestyle I currently do but there is one thing I'm sure of… I don't like rice and I'm seriously ditching eating pork. I'm not vegetarian nor a vegan. Sigh. I don't have any idea how to name this habit. Any suggestion? Trouble shared is a trouble halved.

3 days nalang at sasapit na sa apat na buwan ang aking diet. Wala pa din akong maitatawag sa kung ano mang uri ng pag-kain ang ginagawa ko ngayon pero isa lang ang malinaw sa akin. Ayoko kumain talaga ng kanin at itinatakwil ko na ang pagkain ng karneng baboy. Pero di po ako vegetarian at vegan. Ano nga ba kasi talagang life style ito. May suggestion ba kayo? Problem ko problem niyo na din.

Hmmm... I was thinking anong luto gagawin ko sa Kalabasa at sitaw na binili ko kahapon. I will try this creamy version.

We also do veggies only sinigang from time to time. Great option when you don't eat meat. 😊
