Homemade Chocolate Moron

Hi everyone,

My wife cooked chocolate moron. Another kakanin from Philippines. From the last day she cooked puto kutsinta. Today is chocolate moron. Chocolate moron has a long process than puto kutsinta.

Before my wife sell to the neighbors, she give us chocolate moron snacks. She sliced it to make it finger lickin food. 😊

She sells the chocolate moron for only 5pesos. The profit she gets is a big help for our family to buy foods.

I asked my wife on how she cooks the chocolate moron. She said, the ingredients are the following:

  • Rice flour/Grind Rice
  • Coconut milk
  • Sugar
  • Grind Chocolate cacao
  • Peanuts
  • Vanilla
  • Salt

She told me the process in cooking chocolate moron.

  1. Grate the coconut and extract the coconut milk.

  2. Heat the banana leaves and clean with the remains of the grated coconut. Use clean rags for final cleaning of the heated banana leaves and cut to desirable sizes. The banana leaves is advisable to be heated for easy using in wrapping the chocolate moron.

  3. Prepare for the white mixture of white moron: 500 grams rice flour or grinded rice, 250 grams sugar, 6 cups coconut milk, 1 tablespoon salt, 2 tablespoon vanilla and peanuts.
  4. In a pan, combine the ingredients. Mix well until becomes evenly and smooth.

  5. In a medium fire, continuously stir the mixture until it becomes a cake texture. Transfer in a bowl and set aside.

  6. Prepare the ingredients for chocolate mixture: 500 grams rice flour or grind rice, 250 grams sugar, 6 cups coconut milk, 1 cup grind cacao chocolate, 1 tablespoon salt, 2 tablespoon spoon vanilla and peanuts.
  7. In a pan, combine the ingredients. Mix well until becomes evenly and smooth.

  8. In a medium fire, continue stirring the mixture until it becomes a cake texture. Transfer in a bowl and set aside.

  9. Prepare the banana leaves. Start wrapping the combined cake texture at your different style or you may follow as shown in the pictures.

  10. Roll and wrap in a banana leaves and tie until the cake texture are all wrap.

  11. Put in the steamer and cook for 1 hour.

  12. When cook, take out from the steamer and let it cool. Cut the both ends of the banana leaves.

Before my wife sell it to our neighbors, she gives us chocolate moron for our snacks with the kids.

The chocolate moron is good as dessert, good for snacks and breakfast to be paired with coffee.
