Happy new year guys, I'm nuberry and it's my first post on the foodies Bee Hive community. I'm from the southern part of Nigerian (Akwa ibom state).
We are nicknamed the home of soups and Atama soup is one our delicious delicacy.


Atama leaf is call bush apple leaf in English and it's botanical name is heinsia crinita. The leave has a lot of nutritional value has its help reduce cholesterol level and increase good cholesterol in human s, it contains folic acid etc.
There are different methods of preparing Atama soup, I prepared mine using palm fruit juice also know as abak and melon.


I sliced the atama leaf and washed it using hot water to reduce the bitterness and then filtered it.

I cooked the palm fruit and pounded it to get the juice




after that I had my meat, stock fish fish, crayfish pepper salt maggi and melon added to the palm fruit juice on the fire.

I allowed it to boil then I added the atama leaf and in few minutes my soup was ready.

This is a delicious soup can be eaten with swallow or with rice.
