Filipino chopsuey

Hello beautiful foodies! Chopsuey is a stir fry mixed vegetable thickened perfectly with seasoned white sauce or light brown sauce. It is a classic and famous dish in the Philippines and is often served in special occasions or even regular dinner menu.

Today I am going to share how I cook my chopsuey. Let's get started.

Ingredients:

Carrots 1 medium
Red pepper 1 big
Brocolli 1/2 cup
Cauliflower 1 cup
Long green chili 3pcs. (Not spicy)
Chicken breast 500 grms
Pepper coarse ground 1tbspn
Onion 2 medium
Garlic 4cloves

For thickening the sauce mix in cold water

corn starch 1tbspn
Water 60ml

####Methods:

Sliced and chopped necessary ingredients.

Heat oil in a pan. Add in onion. Saute for 2 minutes. Then add in garlic, continue to saute till raw smell is gone.

Add in chicken, saute till meat becomes white.

Add in salt & coarse black pepper. Mix.

Pour in water 2 cups of water. Put to lid. Cook chicken till half way done. Mix Occasionally.

Add in carrots and cauliflower.( Vegetables that will take time to cook.)put in low fire, Put to lid. Cook for 5 min. Or till the vegetables are cooked.

Add in red bell, green chili and brocolli. Stir. Put to lid for 2 min.

Pour in cornstarch, to thicken the sauce. Stir.

It's about to finish. Stir and switch off flame.

Perfect with warm rice for a happy and hearty meal. Enjoy!

Note:

I haven't added any commercial seasonings to my chopsuey, but still taste great because the moisture from chicken itself will add flavor to the dish, and freshly ground black pepper adds taste to the dish.

You may add chicken liver, or quail eggs if available. It adds more taste to your chopsuey.

You may add different veggies available such as celery, mushroom, cabbage, baby corn green beans and so on.
Avoid over cooking veggies to retain nutrients.
