My 1st time visit to a busiest food street in Shanghai

Hello, the beautiful people of the Hive universe. Hope you all are doing great and have a great weekend. Before the weekend, I was thinking about my cooking plan and then I recall this busiest food street where I have seen some of the foods items for the first time in my life though many of those items I couldn't take photos due to the heavy crowd and I don't have so strong desire to eat those as most of them are banned for me as a Muslim.

But I have also found a point that all these items are not so weird as my countrymen always ask me why Chinese people eat too much bad things and they ask me 'Do you get good foods to eat?' So, I wanted to show a short glimpse of the foods that Chinese people eat. And it should be keep in mind that very few recipes are really bad may be around 5% which is also common almost everywhere. So, the negativity must be uplifted from the eastern world's eating habit!

I have been following food bloggers from around the world and I was a little bit curious about the eastern world, especially the ASEAN countries! And I have seen some of the nastiest foods also there from the show "Best Ever Food Review show" presented by Sonny Side! And I was shocked by the Deadliest food in Asia the "Raw blood soup" and the "POOP soup" though I am used to watching Bear Grylls's survival foods list. But a restaurant for such items was really a shocking one for me!

As a Muslim, I have maintained a food requirement, especially for meat and drinks as all the vegan and the fishes and kinds of seafood are allowed without any requirements. So, wherever I go I don't try all the things that I see but try to explore those and I am a little bit curious about the taste!

As usual, my Shanghai and Nanjing trip recently has also let me explore some of the busiest food streets in my limited exploration. But for my restriction my experience with the taste is nothing. But most of the items looks yummy though some of them has completely destroyed my desire to taste those foods even that is allowed for me to eat!

And in this list, the first come the fried insects which looks okay in my opinion and I have tried a kind of fried such insects a few years ago when I first came to China in 2019. And the taste was not attracting as it was quite a muddy taste.

But the boiled eggs which has turned into a half chicken inside is really the nasty food items that I have ever seen in my real eyes. And it was really a disturbing item in that street for me, even I could not smell about it!

Other items such as the fried pita-type snacks and the eggs in a beautiful muddy structure were okay for me.

I have also seen some of my favorite items there as fish fry and mushroom fry which are very common in my country also.

A healthy and delicious food is tofu which I like to eat. But there is a kind of tofu called the "Stinky tofu" which has a strong irritating smell which I can't tolerate and eating is impossible!

As a Muslim, pork is not allowed me to eaten but I see everywhere so much and so many pork recipes even it is difficult for me to escape from it in my canteen sometimes! In most of the cases I saw the bony parts like feet or the head parts in the street shops as the whole meat parts are not good for these snacks I think.

However, I can't eat but I can see the beauty of these foods which looks good. Even I often make mistakes that I thought it was pork and avoid that but later some of my colleagues told me it was not pork! Especially fo whole meat it is difficult to separate often when cooked in almost similar recipes!

The above pictures are some of the sweetmeats which are very common here in China. And I have seen great differences between these sweets and the sweets in the Indian subcontinent. After watching and searching for good sweets everywhere I have been here in China, The sweets in the Indian subcontinent are the best in the world!

Many sweets are the melted coating of sugar syrup on some fruits which tastes good but no dairy-related sweets here which is the backbone of India or Bangladeshi sweets!

Also, there are hundreds of snacks and recipes for the Chicken and Ducks which are also very delicious from my experience that I have tasted often. The Grilled ones and the Barbecues are very popular in China though I prefer a little bit more cooked version!

Also the sauces are sold here like the icecream and most of the cases those are from pork but still abundant of chickens and Halal chickens ones can be found. But unexpectedly I don't like to any kind of sauces which was a early habit when I was in Bangladesh

The sea animals and the fishes are also very popular here but the price is relatively expensive as most of the cases they import these from other countries. I also like the sea fishes though here most of them are sea animals.

If you are visiting Shanghai or plan to visit and you have an interest in foods and cuisine of China, then it can be a good place to spend some hours as it is very convenient to visit a busy foodstreet in Shanghai city or in any cites here. I hope you will enjoy walking amid the fragrant of mouthwatering foods flavor!

These food look like yummy.

Yeah, they are indeed but I haven't try!

Dear @tanzil2024 !
Your photos are definitely shocking!
The Chinese seem to have cooked all the creatures in the world!
The Chinese especially enjoy pork very much.
East Asians generally enjoy pork and beef, so Islam and Hinduism are not very popular with East Asians.

However, I want to tell you a secret.
The only food the Chinese do not eat is seaweed and sea mustard.

There is a legend that seaweed and sea mustard enhance male sexual function.🙃

So, Unlike the Chinese, the Japanese and Koreans enjoy seaweed and sea mustard very much.😃

Yeah, and I think I have eaten the seaweed many times here so everything is for eating here!

A great reason to eat great foods!
But, in Indian cinema, a term "Japanese Oil" is very popular for such purposes same as Viagra in Hollywood movies😃😃😃

@tanzil2024!
I have never seen Chinese people enjoy eating seaweed.
I've never seen a Chinese dish made with seaweed.

But, in Indian cinema, a term "Japanese Oil" is very popular for such purposes same as Viagra in Hollywood movies

Hassan! What is Japanese Oil?😵

So did you try something exotic?
all these food seems quite spicy and im not sure is it tasty or not:D

I didn't try the exotic one! But tried some Vegetable related items which was delicious!
They seem to be delicious and I think that should be but not sure!

I guess culture is a hell of a thing.
People do eat all kinds of stuff, and on that matter, the Chinese stand out.
I've seen some things in your photos that I would definitely give a miss 😏

Yeah, but there is something geographical impact too, and the past food crisis or food management of the available resources or something like that may have shaped our present culture in such a thing. but now we can get the good things for our hunger and keep the wild into the wild which can keep us safe from many underlying issues related to some new diseases and keep the balance in climate.
