Hace días tenía ganas de comer caraotas, pero en el Oriente del país acostumbran a comerlas dulces y a mí no me gustan dulces. Es por esto que quería asegurarme de hacerlas a mi gusto y poder disfrutarlas. La ventaja de prepararlas saladas normal, es que a los que les gusta con azúcar le pueden agregar cuando estan cocidas y quedan riquísimas.
I've been wanting to eat caraotas for days, but in the eastern part of the country they usually eat them sweet and I don't like them sweet. That's why I wanted to make sure to make them to my taste and enjoy them. The advantage of preparing them normally salted, is that those who like them with sugar can add them when they are cooked and they are delicious.
Todo comenzó cuando mis tías trajeron un kilo de caraotas porque yo les había comentando que quería hacer unas caraotas.
It all started when my aunts brought a kilo of beans because I had told them I wanted to make some beans.
Las tías estaban entusiasmadas con la idea y me dijo: "Y ya que tenemos caraotas podemos hacer Pabellón" Que es nuestro plato Nacional, consta de carne mechada, tajadas con arroz y caraotas.

Primero fui al mercado para comprar algunos ingredientes que faltaban. Lo que no pude comprar fue el ajo porro porque no había, pero los demás sí. Entre las cosas que compré está el ají, pimentón, ajoporro, cebolla y ajo.
First I went to the market to buy some missing ingredients. What I couldn't buy was the ajo porro because there wasn't any, but the rest of the ingredients were available. Among the things I bought were chili, paprika, ajoporro, onion and garlic.
Las caraotas se habían puesto en remojo el día anterior para que estuviese blanditas y se llevara menos tiempo de cocción. Las pusimos a cocinar en una olla con una tapa que sellara bien con una pizca de sal y unas hojas de aguacate que las ayudaría a ablandarse. La carne para mechar se puso sancochar con una ramita de cebollín un poquito de ajo y cebolla. Adicional a esto se le agregaron algunas hojas de aguacate con el mismo fin de las caraotas.

The beans had been soaked the day before so they would be soft and take less time to cook. Cuando estuvo lista la carne la saqué y la comencé a desmechar. Mis tías me ayudaron porque a pesar de que cuando yo la bajé de la candela estaba suave la carne no estaba lista, se puso un poco dura. Entonces mi tía es con su sabiduría y experiencia la cocina la pisaron con una piedra para mecharla y luego ponerla a cocinar nuevamente con sus aliños licuados y sofritos, agregándoles otras hojas de aguacate hasta que esté lista .
Mi tía se había encargado de hacer el arroz, cortar las tajadas y freirlas.

Una vez estuvo listo servimos y acompañamos con casabe para los orientales, para mí no porque este plato está más que completo.
Me quedó muy rica la comida y los comensales estaban muy satisfechos.

Que delicia, amo el Pabellón no lo suelo comer mucho por la carne roja pero es una exquisites de nuestra comida criolla.

Si bueno a mí porque la carne roja no me hace muy bien para la salud, pero de vez en cuando como un poco, porque este plato es irresistibles 😋
