Hello everyone 👋
Recently a new mall has opened at Edmondson Park in Sydney. Edmondson Park is a suburb in the west of Sydney that is somewhat new as residential houses and apartments in the area have been built and established only in recent years. Their train station is also pretty new and from memory was completed and open in 2015.
Recently the mall has had a grand opening and a couple of friends have visited so we decided to also check it out. Unfortunately only half the mall was open with mostly the dining strip being open. The restaurants in the area reminded us a bit of Chippendale in the city as they had some restaurants and cafes franchised from that area.
After walking up and down the dining strip, we decided to try this Vietnamese restaurant called Thanh Binh as hubby wanted to see if their pho bo (beef noodles) good as we haven’t found a place in Sydney that beats our favourite Vietnamese restaurant.
The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit indoors as the autumn breeze outside was a little chilly.
Inside the restaurant is very spacious and perfect for us as we had a pram. The restaurant was also spaced out this way due to covid and the requirement of needing to space the seatings a certain distance apart as required by the Government.
If you look through that bar area, you will see straight into the kitchen at the back. Everything looked clean which was very good.
Food has been served! Let’s see what we have...
Bean sprouts, basil, chilli and lemon. Comes with the noodles we ordered.
Fresh prawn rice rolls. This was actually pretty tiny compared to other places so I think it isn’t quite worth its price.
The Vietnamese beef noodles (pho bo) hubby wanted to try. According to him, it’s not bad and is ok to satisfy cravings but still does not beat our favourite place.
This is the Vietnamese chicken noodles (pho ga) I had. First time ordering this dish ever as I usually have the beef but recently I’ve been cutting down on the beef for health reasons. The chicken was tender and broth was tasty. Noodles were a little over cooked. Still nice overall and great for warming up the body.
The service at this restaurant was a little on the slow side as they only had 1 staff on the floor to serve. I cannot blame them as the area is new, restaurant is new and there’s not that many customers yet. Perhaps they will improve as time goes on. The waiter was friendly though so that was great!
Pricing for food at this restaurant is considered average. For the food we ordered between two people it cost less than AUD $50.
Would we visit again? I think yes as we’d like to try some other dishes on the menu. Won’t be soon though as there are so many more restaurants around the place we have our eyes on 😄. Hopefully when we visit again, they’d have already got the hang of running their business smoothly and have a bit more staff. It’s totally understandable this time as they are still new and they’re doing a great job already.
