Guten Tag, Hive foodies! Today we're talking about Auf der Au Garden, a German food buffet restaurant in Chiang Mai that our business partner Travis introduced us to. Kev fell in love with the place, but I think it's just okay for my liking. Anyways, I think it's worth sharing as I know some of you might be interested in all the value and how German this place is!

First things first, let's talk about the price. This place is super affordable, with dinner priced at 270 THB and lunch at 180 THB. We went for dinner and it was an all-you-can-eat spread of German specialties that tasted delicious. The dessert selection was great too, especially the cakes!

The atmosphere is friendly and chilled out. It's simple set up but I think that's its charm. It's like you come have dinner at your German friend's house (seriously!). The staff are really good at topping up your water jug and clearing away finished dishes. It's not a fancy place, but it's great for homesick Germans and Europeans who need a bit (or a lot) of home-cooked food. The food is fresh and there's plenty of it. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, and there's seating available both inside and outside. Somehow 3 times we visited, we got the exact same table O.o

The selection of German-style food is excellent (not that I'm an expert but well..), and the quality is top-notch. We were lucky enough to meet the owner. In fact, he's so down to earth and humble. He's always walking around collecting the done dishes and talking to people asking how the food and everything are.

Overall, this place is exceptional value for Chiang Mai. I mean, in Nimman, you literally pay more for one craft beer! The all-you-can-eat buffet is a steal, with copious amounts of quality food and desserts, plus free-flowing coffee. Just be warned, it can get very busy, so try to book ahead or come early.

I love their sausages! Different sizes, tastes and textures. I also love all the pickles and salad. I could just go there for those 2 things :D The first time we visited, I was too excited and grabbed all the food I could at once. Kev ended up suffering and trying to finish everything on the table. Lesson learned, pace yourself!

All in all, Auf der Au Garden is probably the only and the best European buffet in Chiang Mai. It's super good for the value, and it's no surprise why it's so busy all the time.

In case you need a website and you're starting fresh or want to update an existing one, I've got a Webflow agency called keetalux. You can browse the site to see some previous projects and find out more about the services. Let's team up and make something great!
