First of all, love its name! and it makes sense how it's called that way. This 'Golden bags' or Thoong Thong (ถุงทอง) in Thai is a deep fried snack made pretty much with the same ingredients as wontons but instead of the regular triangle shape of a folded square, this one is wrap into a shape of a little bag, tied using pandan leaves. Stuffed with seasoned ground pork . Once deep fried, the flour turns goldenish, brownish, and that's why it's called 'The golden bag'! I think that's kinda cute.

There are a few more dishes we gave it a try here.

Somtam: Next one is som tam. It's just a must. Totally goes well with most things especially these deep fried golden bags we just talked about. Som tam could clean the palette pretty good. It gives the sweet, sour, spicy, and all things though refreshing in a way because the main ingredient is shredded green papaya.

Kuay Teow Lord is so good and I think it's not so famous at all among foreigners here in Thailand. It's a dish with a big noodle type with tons of topping like tofu, lettuce, bean sprouts, carrots, little shrimps, and pickled radish then a bunch of sweet sour black sauce. This is another refreshing one and I think it's healthy in a way.

The place we had these dishes is this 'Pa Sun', on Koh Kret (river island), just a few minutes walk from the pier. The place is a Thai old-school house which I think looks really cool. Not a lot of people live in a house like this especially in cities anymore but this place, keep it in a real good condition and adapt it as a restaurant. The owner/server also wears traditional Thai clothes which I found it quite entertaining. I at least made me smile!

There are also a pandan water offered for free for all customers. If you're not used to it, it's a green leaf that gives unique greenish floral-ish scent. Quite nice and real refreshing.

Totally a must visit when you're on the island. It's simple yet unique in a way. The food is good, reasonable and authentic. The owners are kind and welcoming.

Real guccc. Look! My two aunties were happy!
