Hace mucho que no posteo ninguna receta pero hoy quisiera compartir o más bien expresar mi opinión sobre unos productos asiáticos que compré en un mercado coreano que se encuentra en la capital de mi país (Caracas-Venezuela). Al basarme en mis gustos es probable que no coincidan con mi persona, pues habrán cosas que algunos nos gustan y otros no, debo decir que ha sido toda una experiencia divertida explorar nuevos sabores y texturas.

It has been a long time since I last posted a recipe but today I would like to share or rather express my opinion about some Asian products that I bought in a Korean market located in the capital of my country (Caracas-Venezuela). Based on my tastes, it is likely that they do not coincide with me, as there will be things that some of us like and others do not, I must say that it has been a fun experience to explore new flavors and textures.
PRODUCTS
Dumplings: fácilmente yo podría engordar con esta comida. Son muy suavecitos, te divierte el hecho de que tengan capas finas de arroz, quieres comerlas una a una o verlas después de dar un mordisco, pasarle el dedo a las tiritas. No sé si todos sean iguales pero estos tienen muchas capas delgadas y en el centro el relleno. Los que compré son de vegetales. Recomiendo acompañarlos de alguna salsa como la soya o de anguila, pido perdón si de casualidad es una ofensa cultural colocárselas. No me alcanzó para los que están rellenos de cerdo así que quedo con la curiosidad y la sensación de que podrían gustarme más que estos, a la vez con la duda de si la carne se parezca a la del ramen de caja. Realmente son deliciosos, aunque sepas que son de arroz tienen un sabor muy diferente al arroz blanco que solemos comer en mi país, son súper esponjosos, se sienten bajos en sal pero el relleno complementa el resto del sabor. No distinguí bien el relleno sobre lo qué es, pero sabe similar a las algas o al wakame con otros tonos salados.
Dumplings: I could easily get fat with this food. They are very soft, you get a kick out of the fact that they have thin layers of rice, you want to eat them one by one or see them after taking a bite, run your finger over the strips. I don't know if they are all the same but these have many thin layers and in the center the filling. The ones I bought are vegetable ones. I recommend adding some kind of sauce like soy or eel sauce, I apologize if by any chance it is a cultural offense to add them. I couldn't afford the ones filled with pork, so I'm left with the curiosity and the feeling that I might like them better than these, and at the same time with the doubt of whether the meat resembles that of the boxed ramen. They are really delicious, even though you know they are made of rice they have a very different flavor to the white rice we usually eat in my country, they are super fluffy, they feel low in salt but the filling complements the rest of the flavor. I did not distinguish well the filling on what it is, but it tastes similar to seaweed or wakame with other salty tones.
Mochis: es poco decir que los mochis de helado son mi adoración. Probé los tradicionales y tras una investigación por disgusto, no los recomiendo pues es confitería que contiene conservantes entonces no saben igual a como deberían. Es como una goma seca con un fruto seco en el medio. Por otro lado, los de helado si saben como deberían, tienen una textura similar, por no decir igual, chiclosa pero sin ser pegostosos, se estiran un poco pero nunca dejan de ser suaves, no se pegan en los dientes, son como una masita ligeramente dulce y si la masa fue hecha con leche sabe aún mejor. Se hacen con harina de arroz glutinoso. La marca que compre decora algunos en una capa de chocolate y el relleno de helado de cada uno es diferente, el color del mochi no sirve de referencia para adivinar de qué son, así que eso lo vuelve una experiencia llena de sorpresa. Y lo mejor de todo, es que no te empalagas ni un poco. Me falta probar los que estan rellenos de crema batida jiji
Mochis: it goes without saying that ice cream mochis are my favorite. I tried the traditional ones and after a research for disgust, I do not recommend them because it is confectionery that contains preservatives so they do not taste the same as they should. It's like a dried gum with a nut in the middle. On the other hand, the ice cream ones do taste like they should, they have a similar texture, not to say the same, chewy but without being sticky, they stretch a little but never stop being soft, they do not stick to the teeth, they are like a slightly sweet dough and if the dough was made with milk it tastes even better. They are made with glutinous rice flour. The brand I buy decorates some of them with a chocolate coating and the ice cream filling of each one is different, the color of the mochi is not a reference to guess what they are, so that makes it a surprise experience. And best of all, you don't get sick to your stomach. I have yet to try the ones filled with whipped cream jiji.
Galletas de camarón y pulpo: son como una oblea salada y saborizada, no hay mucho que decir hahaha. Para los que no saben, oblea para nosotros los venezolanos es mas como una galleta seca o pastel seco. Este tipo de galleta aunque sea salada, yo preferiría comerla con algo más de acompañamiento. Podrían resultar incluso dietéticas, no tienen mucha sal, ni mucho sabor...
Shrimp and octopus cookies: they are like a salty and flavored wafer, not much to say hahaha. For those who don't know, oblea for us Venezuelans is more like a dry cookie or dry cake. This type of cookie even though it is salty, I would prefer to eat it with something else on the side. They could even be dietary, they don't have much salt, not much flavor...
Galletas de carne: nunca he comido carne seca pero podría decir que la esencia o el saborizante va dirigida a esa intención, la verdad tienen muy poca sal saben a saborizante sin sal, son súper secas. Tampoco he comido alimento para perros pero podría hacerme una idea, por favor o sé enojen carezco de metáforas para este sabor.
Meat crackers: I have never eaten dried meat but I could say that the essence or the flavoring is directed to that intention, the truth is that they have very little salt, they taste like a flavoring without salt, they are super dry. I have never eaten dog food either but I could get an idea, please don't be mad I lack metaphors for this flavor.
Guisantes: saben igual que los de acá, yo se los coloqué al ramen instantáneo, pero fácilmente se usarían en un arroz con pollo. Creo que la única diferencia es que son más secos y más firmes, pero saben iguala todos los guisantes que he probado.
Peas: they taste just like the ones here, I put them in instant ramen, but they could easily be used in rice with chicken. I think the only difference is that they are drier and firmer, but they taste just like all the peas I've tried.
Yogurt: fue una experiencia desastrosa. Para nosotros el yogur debe ser espeso con mucha textura y firmeza. Yo pensé que era de los productos que más me agradaría, porque me gustaba el empaque. Para empezar es líquido al punto de parecer leche, sí, tiene esa consistencia, muy pero muy líquido. En cuanto al sabor, es extraño, sabe un poco agrio al tocar tu lengua, mientras lo tragas sabe a leche cortada y ya cuando lo traga por completo es que te deja una sensación de dulzor. Con esencia entre vainilla y café. Yo tenía unos Flips de vainilla (golosina venezolana) porque nos gusta comer cereal con yogur, y me lo intenté comer así pero no pude...

Jugos: para no tener errores en traducción y dar una opinión general, sabemos que estos tienen conservantes y azúcar como cualquier jugo, pero estos en lo personal me parecieron excesivamente dulces, tan dulces que a mitad de frasco tu lengua no distingue el sabor del jugo y solo sientes azúcar. Seguramente habrán mejores marcas y con mejor sabor, pero los que probé fueron así, igual no me cierro a la idea de seguir probando.

Caramelos: solo compré los de fruta llamada durián, no me gustaron. Los compartí con muchas personas tratando de encontrar a alguien que le gustaran para regalarlos y no pude. No sé como describirlos, obviamente son dulces, pero también amargos, si huelen fuerte como dicen que es la fruta, si los prueban ya sería por curiosidad. No quiero decir nada despectivo, lo siento.
Candies: I only bought the durian fruit candies, I didn't like them. I shared them with many people trying to find someone who liked them to give them as a gift and I couldn't. I don't know how to describe them. I don't know how to describe them, obviously they are sweet, but also bitter, if they smell strong as they say the fruit is, if you try them it would be out of curiosity. Pockys: palitos dulces de galletas, dependiendo de la cobertura será el dulzor, la galleta base no empalaga y es seca. Recomiendo los de chocolate oscuro, durazno, y los de té verde en realidad saben como a torta con mucha leche en polvo, similar a la leche condensada o dulce de leche de nuestro país con un ligero sabor a té.
Pockys: sweet cookie sticks, depending on the coating will be the sweetness, the base cookie is not cloying and is dry. Fideos: compré diversos sabores, si son delicados del estómago o del colon ni por curiosidad prueben algo picante, los productos asiáticos picantes lo son realmente, y les pueden hacer mucho daño. Yo por ejemplo no soy ni un poquito tolerante, pero fuimos varias personas y algunos querían vivir la experiencia, por si se preguntan porque están en la bolsa. Los fideos de udon son de las mejores cosas que podría decir que he probado, tanto en textura como en sabor, cómanlos con carne y que tenga mucha salsa. Los fideos de papa haga caso a la receta y cómanlos con caldo, no sean como yo, secos no tienen ninguna gracia, busquen recetas jajaja. Fuera de eso, todos los fideos instantáneos de ramen sin importar el precio tienen un sabor similar, no los cocinen demasiado para que sepan bien, en general los de pollo y carne son los que me gustaron por encima de los de mariscos.
Noodles: I bought different flavors, if you have a delicate stomach or colon, don't even try something spicy out of curiosity, Asian spicy products are really spicy, and they can hurt you a lot. I for one am not even a little bit tolerant, but we were several people and some wanted to live the experience, in case you are wondering why they are in the bag. The udon noodles are one of the best things I could say I have ever tasted, both in texture and flavor, eat them with meat and have lots of sauce. The potato noodles heed the recipe and eat them with broth, don't be like me, dry is not funny at all, look up recipes hahaha. Other than that, all instant ramen noodles regardless of price have a similar taste, don't overcook them so they taste good, in general the chicken and beef ones are the ones I liked over the seafood ones.
Soju: bebida destilada de arroz, se ha convertido en mis bebidas favoritas, a mí la verdad no me llama la atención el resto del alcohol pero ahora sé porque beben esto y se embriagan felizmente, sabe genial. Yo escogí el de uva verde para ser más tradicional, pero habían otros con sabor a mora, hierbas o flores. Su sabor no es fuerte, ni amargo, ni demasiado dulce, diría que se parece al champagne y un poco al vodka, totalmente equilibrado entre todos sus matices, pero no se dejen engañar, los que no beben alcohol, con una botella es suficiente, tiene el tamaño de una cerveza enorme.

No es de comida pero las tazas asiáticas tienen muy buena calidad, para que beban sus recetas en ellas. Lo mejor es que tiene un pequeño cubierto y una tapa para que no le entre ninguna mosca.
