Hello everybody, I am a Turkish man who lives in London. This will be my first post after so long, please give me your support and constructive criticism. Here is our traditional Turkish dill pastry. Please don't hesitate to ask for more information if necessary.
Dill Pastry Ingredients
100 gr Vegetable oil
125gr Butter
- 3 tablespoon Yoghurt
- 1 teaspoon Vinegar
- 10gr Baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 5gr Table salt
- Bunch of dills
- 500gr White flour
How to Bake
We need clear space and a deep large bowl to start with preparations.
Make a coffee for yourself 😉
Sift 350gr white plain flour into a large bowl. Add 125gr butter and 3 tablespoon yoghurt. Rub in with your fingertips until you see a spongy dough.
Add 100gr vegetable oil then stir in salt and baking powder and the rest of the flour mix your dough.
Separate one egg yolk and use rest within the mixture. We will keep the egg yolk for later.
Dice the bunch of dills into small pieces.
Put the dill pieces into the dough and ensure the mixture comes together to an elastic dough.
Roll out the pastry into little balls and put them on baking paper in the oven tray. Brush the top of the little balls with egg yolk we've separated to make it crunchy and add some sesame seeds on top of them after resting the pastry for 20 minutes. Whilst the pastry is resting for 20 minutes, set your own temperature to 200C.
Cooking time is about 35 - 40 minutes.
You can enjoy your pastry with an English tea with milk.
