Heute ist der Tag der Erde, earth day!
Die Erde ist bis heute der einzige bekannte Planet im Universum auf dem Leben existiert. Die Wissenschaft vermutet, dass es noch tausende oder Millionen von Planeten geben könnte, auf denen Leben möglich ist oder sogar existiert. Ob es dafür jemals Beweise gibt oder evtl. sogar ein Kontakt zu diesen fremden Lebewesen hergestellt werden kann steht in den Sternen. Ich selber habe da so meine Zweifel, denn alleine die Entfernungen von Lichtjahren machen dies meiner Meinung nach fast unmöglich.
Und gerade deshalb, weil unsere Erde so einmalig ist, sollten wir doch alles dafür tun, diesen wunderschönen blauen Planeten zu bewahren und zu erhalten.

Jeder Astronaut, wenn er zurück kommt auf die Erde, erzählt von dem einmaligen Erlebnis auf diesen blauen Planeten aus dem Weltraum zu blicken.
Bereits 1969 stellte John McConnell auf einer Konferenz der UNESCO in San Francisco die Idee und das Konzept für einen Tag der Erde vor, welcher erstmals am 21. März 1970 stattfand. Jedoch setzte sich der am 22. April von Gaylord Nelson ins Leben gerufene Earth Day durch.
Heute finden weltweit viele Aktionen zum Schutz unserer Erde statt.
Die Feierlichkeiten zum Tag der Erde im letzten halben Jahrhundert haben unglaubliche Anstrengungen mit sich gebracht: Millionen von Bäumen wurden gepflanzt, Hunderte von Kilometern Küstenlinie gereinigt und Zehntausende von Menschen sind mit dem Fahrrad zur Schule oder zur Arbeit gefahren.
Diese Aktionen haben meine volle Unterstützung, aber sollten wir wirklich nur an diesem einen Tag unseren Planeten feiern? Wäre es nicht sinnvoll und zu unserem eigenen Vorteil, ihn jeden Tag zu schützen und zu bewahren?
Viele Menschen engagieren sich tag täglich für den Erhalt unseres Planeten. Aber es gibt leider auch sehr starke Institutionen und Interessensgruppen, denen der schnelle Profit wichtiger ist als der Erhalt unserer Natur. Hoffen wir, dass die, die unseren blauen Planeten bewahren und schützen wollen, am Ende erfolgreich sein werden.

The Earth is still the only known planet in the universe where life exists. Science speculates that there could be thousands or millions of other planets where life is possible or even exists. Whether there will ever be evidence for this or possibly even contact with these alien beings remains to be seen. I personally have my doubts because the distances of light-years make this, in my opinion, almost impossible.
And precisely because our Earth is so unique, we should do everything we can to preserve and protect this beautiful blue planet.
Every astronaut, when they return to Earth, talks about the unique experience of looking at this blue planet from space.
In 1969, John McConnell presented the idea and concept for Earth Day at a UNESCO conference in San Francisco, which was first celebrated on March 21, 1970. However, the Earth Day initiated by Gaylord Nelson on April 22 became more popular.
Today, many actions are taking place worldwide to protect our Earth.
The celebrations of Earth Day in the last half century have brought incredible efforts: millions of trees have been planted, hundreds of kilometers of coastline cleaned, and tens of thousands of people have ridden their bikes to school or work.
I fully support these actions, but should we really only celebrate our planet on this one day? Wouldn't it be more sensible and to our own advantage to protect and preserve it every day?
Many people are committed daily to preserving our planet. But unfortunately, there are also very powerful institutions and interest groups for whom quick profit is more important than preserving our nature. Let us hope that those who want to preserve and protect our blue planet will ultimately be successful.
