Hallo liebe Hiver,
zum 70. Geburtstag meines Vaters hatten mein Bruder und ich uns etwas ganz besonderes überlegt. Seit ein paar Jahren geht mein Vater leidenschaftlich gerne Wandern. Hierdurch ist er für sein Alter auch wirklich fit. Also schenkten wir ihm zu seinem runden Geburtstag ein Wanderwochenende an der Altmühl. Nur er mit seinen beiden Söhnen. Nun mag er es eigentlich nicht sonderlich beschenkt zu werden. Aber hierüber hat er sich wirklich mal sehr gefreut.
20 Kilometer sollten es sein mit 4 Burgen bzw. Burgruinen. Start und Endpunkt war Kinding, das natürlich auch eingehend erkundet wurde.

For my father's 70th birthday, my brother and I had something very special in mind. For a few years now, my father has been passionate about hiking. This makes him really fit for his age. So we gave him for his birthday a hiking weekend at the Altmühl. Just him with his two sons. He doesn't really like to receive presents. But he was really happy about this.
20 kilometers should be it with 4 castles and/or castle ruins. Start and end point was Kinding, which was of course also explored in detail.
Das mittelalterliche Kloster Kindings und der Ausblick auf die Steinformationen die aus dem Berg ragen war beeindruckend.
The medieval monastery of Kindings and the view of the stone formations jutting out of the mountain was impressive.
Das Wetter war ideal, nicht zu warm und nicht zu kalt. Viele Wandergruppen waren unterwegs. Die Ruinen waren teilweise schon komplett in der Natur aufgegangen und nur noch wenige Reste zeugten von vergangenen Tagen.
The weather was ideal, not too warm and not too cold. Many groups of hikers were out and about. Some of the ruins had already been completely absorbed into nature and only a few remains bore witness to days gone by.
In Bayern durfte natürlich auch eine kleine Wallfahrtsstätte und die göttliche Unterstützung nicht fehlen. Sehr schön gemacht und ein guter Ort um ein bißchen in sich zu gehen.
In Bavaria, of course, a small place of pilgrimage and divine support could not be missing. Very nicely done and a good place to go a little inside.
Dann ging es weiter über Wiesen und durch Wälder.
Then we continued across meadows and through forests.
Unterwegs kamen wir auch an einer Farm für Black Angus Rinder vorbei. So sehen glückliche Kühe aus.

Abends gab es nach einem ereignisreichen und auch etwas anstrengenden Tag dann noch ein kühles Bier in unserem Landgasthof den wir als Hauptquartier gewählt hatten. Die Tour war herrlich und hat meinem Vater sehr viel Spaß gemacht.
In the evening, after an eventful and also somewhat exhausting day, we had a cold beer in our country inn which we had chosen as our headquarters. The tour was wonderful and my father had a lot of fun.
Am Abreisetag besichtigten wir dann noch das Schloss Hirschberg, den Sitz der Erzdiözese. Auch sehr beeindruckend dieses Bauwerk.
On the day of departure, we visited Hirschberg Castle, the seat of the archdiocese. Also very impressive this building.
Es war ein tolles Wochenende, das mein Vater, mein Bruder und ich sicher immer im Herzen tragen werden. Es war einfach schön mal wieder gemeinsam etwas zu unternehmen, so wie in Kindertagen.
