Since i started to run a witness 3 weeks ago , i noticed how manny inactive witnesses are still on the list , only because people once voted for them and never looked back . Not really weird that people hardly look there anymore since it's not something they have to deal with on a daily base .
But for the active witness that just starts they are lost votes that could help others climb the ranks .
Most of all i want to create awareness , and if in the progress of that people vote for my witness it's a win win ;)
I think it's very good that you're raising awareness about witnesses! They are very important for our blockchain. I try to vote very responsibly. I only cast votes when I have at least a little impression of the witness or his work.
And that is a good thing , if only everyone would take time to research the witness they vote for , and not just blindly vote for the top 20.
That's just the difficult thing about explaining Hive topics like these on chain. How are new users supposed to know that? That's why I already addressed the topic of witnesses at the virtell German-speaking MeetUp that I organise. And I like to remind Hivians about this topic as well. Everyone is free to choose, but they should know what they're doing.
You could also write an explaining-Post or hold a competition where people write about it, that way the topic will become more visible.
Unfortunetly i don't have time to organise a competitioan at the moment, I need to focus on my wifes recovery and cataract surgery this week . But maybe if that all went well i will start something like that .
