Das Design der neuen Steam Machine von 2025 erinnert an das Design der Xbox Series X und des Nintendo Gamecube wegen der kubischen Form.
Die neue Konsole, die unter SteamOS läuft, ist ein smarter Move von Steam, die bereits erfolgreich mit einer Handheld-Konsole (Steam Deck) Erfahrungen sammeln konnten.
Die Steam Machine ist auch ideal in Kombination mit dem neuen angekündigten Steam VR-Headset, Steam Fokus, zu sehen. Und könnte eine preisgünstige Gesamtlösung darstellen, um PCVR mit einer ansprechenden und wesentlich besseren Grafik als mit Standalone-VR-Brillen betreiben zu können.
Spec-mäßig wird die neue Steam Machine von 2025 mit semi-custom Prozessoren und GPU von AMD mit 16GB RAM und 8 GB VRAM ausgestattet. CPU ist eine AMD Zen 4 6C/12T mit 4.8 Ghz max und 30W TDP und die GPU eine AMD RDNA3 28CU mit 2.45 GHz max und 110W TDP.
Das wäre ungefähr mit der Leistung einer RX 7600 vergleichbar. Also eher im Mittelfeld, nicht extremes High-End wie bei echten Hochleistungs-Gaming-PCs, aber sicher ausreichend, um alle Steam-Games in FullHD und PCVR in sub 2K-Auflösung zu betreiben.
Gerüchten zu Folge dürfte Microsoft mit einer neuen Xbox Konsolengeneration unter dem Codenamen Xbox Magnus antworten und erstmals ein hybrides Xbox-System vorstellen, dass sowohl Xbox als auch Steam und PC-Spiele supporten und leistungsmäßig stärker ausgestattet sein wird, um mit einer zukünftigen PlayStation 6 konkurrieren zu können.
Bin gespannt, was die neue Steam Machine kosten wird. Wenn sie preislich ähnlich einer PS5 oder Xbox Series X ist, könnte das durchaus ein großer Erfolg werden und eine große Konkurrenz für die bestehenden Konsolen von Sony und Microsoft darstellen.

Steam is trying again with its own gaming console, Steam Machine, which can be seen as direct competition to Xbox and PlayStation.
The design of the new Steam Machine from 2025 is reminiscent of the Xbox Series X and Nintendo Gamecube due to its cubic shape.
The new console, which runs on SteamOS, is a smart move by Steam, which has already gained experience with a handheld console (Steam Deck).
The Steam Machine is also ideal in combination with the newly announced Steam VR headset, Steam Focus. It could represent an affordable solution for running PCVR games with appealing and significantly better graphics than with standalone VR headsets.

According to rumors, Microsoft is likely to respond with a new generation of Xbox consoles under the code name Xbox Magnus and introduce a hybrid Xbox system for the first time that will support Xbox, Steam, and PC games and will be more powerful in order to compete with a future PlayStation 6.

Not much of a gamer, but the said Steam machine sounds impressive from your description. I hope they don't ruin it by making it pricey. If it's affordable it might be a serious competitor for the Xbox machines.

Was ich viel Interessanter finde ist das Gerücht aktuell, wegen der Steam Machine hier, doch noch Anti-Cheat auf Linux zu bekommen in den Kernel einigschrieben...
Ich meine DAS, wäre ein echter Gamechanger, weil mit Linux Nutzern dann regelrecht geflutet werden dürften.
Sehr interessante Sache also an sich, weil damit auch der Druck der Entwickler wächst, sich mit Linux außeinander zu setzen.
Vielleicht ist das einer der vielen kleinen Anfänge für eine neue Generation OS?

Das habe ich mir auch gedacht, bin gespannt wieviele Games dann tatsächlich nativ auf Linux/SteamOS laufen oder ob sie einfach die Proton Windows Emulation verwenden.
Bin nicht mehr der Konsolen Gamer, seitdem ich meinen PC selber baue.
Ich denke, dass es sehr schwer sein wird sich im Konsolen Markt so richtig zu etablieren. Die XBOX und die PlayStation habe einfach eine riesige Anhängerschaft und sind beides immer wieder tolle Konsolen. Und dann gibt es ja auch noch Nintendo, die meiner Meinung nach aber nur wegen ihrer Marken und Spiele so gut sind und nicht wegen der Konsole an sich.
Yep, wird nicht leicht, hängt sicher auch vom Preis ab, wenn die Steam Machine unter 400 Dollar kostet, könnte sie sich vlt etablieren, wenn sie teurer als eine PS5 ist eher weniger.

Of course, when there is competition, companies also make good quality products so that people can buy what they like, and everything depends on price. If quality and good graphics are given, good voice, and the price is given less, then that product will be more popular.
We don't know the price, but I think it might sell well if it does. Consoles haven't been the greatest with the increased prices.
