Was sagt ihr dazu?

Vibes was a weekly music competition for Web3 enthusiasts on Hive, founded by @lordbutterfly, which rewarded exceptional, homemade live music performances.
The contest was also supported by @blocktrades, cooperated with @inleo, and advertised weekly prizes of several hundred HBD and large upvotes.
The prizes were funded by a mandatory $5 membership to a special paid Vibe community on inleo (Creator Subscriptions) and large upvotes on music posts via Beneficiary Rewards.
It was actually a cool concept that promoted musical talent and was also advertised outside of Hive as an innovative “Web3 music competition.”
Unfortunately, the competition was recently suspended due to allegations of corruption against the jury.
Apparently, there were kickback payments for upvotes and winning the competition to a corrupt juror.
Unfortunately, this is often the case in real-life competitions as well. Corruption is unfortunately a plague of every major competition, public procurement, voting etc.
Unlike in real life, however, the transparency of a blockchain can help to uncover and investigate corruption more easily.
A case of external corruption also came to light. A Cuban company allegedly presented itself as a “gatekeeper” for the Vibes Web3 competition, advertised the competition online on Instagram to attract paying musicians. Overall, this is an all-too-familiar pattern, but it does not necessarily have to be corrupt. If done fairly, it would be consulting.
Overall, I think it's a pity that the competition was discontinued because of the corruption cases, as it was also a win-win for Hive (marketing) and the damage wasn't too great either. But as always, that's relative.
What do you think? I think it's great that the corruption was uncovered thanks to transparency of hive and blockchain tech.
It's good that they found the corruption, but it also sucks to see that the contest went away. I think it was a good thing while it lasted, but it's so common to see people game the system.
Saddening. Also, quite weird that nobody participating in it hasn't noticed earlier.
And also a pity that it has been discontinued because of the corruption, like worst-case outcome, but understandable that ppl are upset about it. I think we need systems that limit corruption by transparency and also reduce the damage of it.
Definitely understandable. As no one wants to fund it now. It was a huge give away, if I am not mistaken.
You cant really limit the corruption other than by it being onchain so its always caught which it was. People are involved so you can never keep this stuff secret for long.
If you presume corruption will happen, you would really not be able to do anything. Its a people factor.
Everybody busy selling their own Hive.
It is very sad that these things happen but unfortunately they are becoming more common.
Corruption ruins a good competition that allows people to showcase their skills

What kind of win-win are you talking about? What is the point of adding users when most of them just join to extract the prizes right away? It in fact could easily create a net drain of Hive and sell pressure. I lack the IT skills to gain the data, but what I saw from the last winners, most of them have KE ratios of >5. What we need are users that invest not such ones that sell any Hive they get.
So a better marketing would be among the millions of people on YT following the shitcoin advices of some influencers. At least there are potential investors.
True, problem of all bigger giveaways but on the other side it creates engagement, success stories and word of mouth advertising also outside Hive but of course Hive needs investors first and foremost. I agree on that, focus should be on investors not just content creators, ideally both. Selling rewards shouldn't be a problem, too high inflation is the problem (in a bear market), due to hbd conversions, 15% apr on hbd and ineffective dhf spending. Also conflict of interest, if projects are paid in hbd, the goal is to hold the peg and payouts by constantly increasing the debt limit, if projects were paid in hive, the goal would be to increase hive in value. Alignment of goals. Don't you see any value in giveaways or contests, aren't you also organizing one?
In 9 years of success stories and word of mouth advertising Hive is where it is right now. Maybe time for a different approach.
The chess tournaments don´t require a jury, but who wins follows transparent rules. True, there are prizes involved as well, but we hardly get any whale votes, compared to the votes for Vibes. It is in a different league :)
Therefore I also don´t claim to make a significant difference. If we would have some valueplan-like funding, maybe we also could attract higher-ranked players, but again, probably most of them would sell as well.
Of course everywhere there is money involved there will be exploitation, it's human nature, you can't change it
Having to pay the subscription to the get upvotes looks vote trading to me also though
Votes were not subject to subscription. The inleo sub ran for only 2 weeks. It was supposed to deal with bot votes on polls and distribute the rewards towards writers as well, cover some marketing, supplement judge work.
Ran for only 2 weeks on Inleo, i even burned the sub money after i shut it down.
It was like a partecipation fee then? Like on some real life competitions
As far as the nature of greed remains in humans, people would do anything for money. Because of this, corruption will always be present on hive, people trying to farm extra rewards. It's good this one was uncovered.
That’s really disappointing to hear about the corruption in the Vibes competition. It’s sad when good projects get affected by such things, but it also shows how blockchain can bring the truth to light. Hopefully, future contests will be more fair and transparent.
