In Japan gibt es die Legende der menschlichen Säulen, welche buchstäblich genau das sind: Säulen, in denen Menschen gefangen sind. Der populäre Mythos besagt, dass Säulen mit darin gefangenen Menschen die Konstruktion des Gebäudes segnen und ihm zusätzlichen Halt verleihen würden. Aber die meisten Orte, die mit diesen angeblichen Säulen gebaut wurden, sollen von den Seelen der darin gefangenen Menschen heimgesucht werden.
