A psychological western coming out of 1950's is unique. The name is familiar but I have not seen it myself. Based on your review I'm making a note of this. The fact it's not the standard tough guy trope is illuminating during this age of bravado.

John Wayne even ate a bit of humble pie on this one. Great synopsis and backstory on the film itself. Good luck, this is a great entry.

It is a highly recommended western where the viewer can empathize with the protagonist who is alone in the face of the danger that will come at the appointed time. Something I didn't say in the post is that it is a political allegory related to the witch hunt era in Hollywood, the infamous McCarthy era.
