Today I want to share a review I wrote about Island at War, a serie released in 2004.
Esta es una serie que, aunque trata de un tema que siempre atrae el interés de la gente, ha quedado olvidada en el tiempo y nunca es mencionada. Los actores hicieron un buen trabajo pero, como suele pasar, es muy difícil destacar y alcanzar el Olimpo al que solo los artistas más renombrados pueden llegar.
This series –even though is about a topic that is always attractive to most viewers- has remained forgottenand is rarely mentioned. The actors did a good job, but as is used to, is very hard for them to stand out and reach the Olympus that only the most rated artists canget.
Island at war es un drama ambientado en la Segunda Guerra mundial. Allí vemos que los nazis llegan a las islas anglo-normandas y las toman como terreno alemán.
El drama se centra en tres familias que pertenecen a tres clases sociales diferentes y nos muestra cómo estas personas manejan la pérdida de sus familiares y la pérdida de su libertad.
Los Mahy son de clase media y tienen que lidiar con la muerte del padre de familia a causa de un tiroteo de parte de un avión alemán y la mala actitud de los soldados de esa nación quienes buscan intimidarlos y humillarlos cada vez que pueden.
Released in 2004, Island at War in World War Two drama in which the Nazis arrive to the Channel Islands and take them as their own territory.
The main story is focused on three families that belong to different social layers in the island and how they deal with the loss of their relatives and freedom.
The Mahy family is middle-class and they have to face the death of their father who was shot by a German plane and also have to deal the awful attitude of the German soldiers who want to intimidate them and humiliate them every time they can.
La familia Dorr pertenece a la clase social alta. James Dorr, el padre de familia, es el gobernador de la isla y se encarga de representar a los ciudadanos luego de que los Nazis la invadieran. De personalidad amable, él intenta que estos no lleguen a usar la violencia contra los ciudadanos, pero no puede evitar esto.
The Dorr family belongs to the High class in that island. James Dorr, the head of the family, is also a senator and rules the island and represents the inhabitants. He is kind and diplomatic and tries to keep people safe but that´s not always the case.
Los ciudadanos rechazan a los Nazis y la mayoría de aquellos evita cualquier interacción.
La familia Jonas acoge a un par de espías franceses que llegan a las islas con la intención de informar a sus superiores de las acciones del ejército enemigo. Esta familia es visitada constantemente por los nazis y viven bajo tensión la mayor parte del tiempo.
The inhabitants reject the Nazis and avoid any interaction with them.
The Jonas family shelters two French spies who arrived secretly to the island to gather information to their bosses. This family is visited by the Nazis constantly and they are under pressure most of the time.
