The Last Temptation of Charlie.
Once again Darren Aronofsky proves that he understands drama and knows how to create a memorable picture.
His famous Requeim For A Dream was the start of a crusade that continues to this day. He proved then that he knew how to make a drama about drugs and their consequences, and he did it brilliantly. A few years later he threw the viewer into the ring again this time in the film Wrestler.
The director also had other films, but dramas were always his way, where people remembered his films for many years, the actors playing became stars again.
The new film Whale is a film that may be a little reminiscent of the fight that Randy had in Wrestler.
It is a painful film without embellishment, it shows a man's last week and what he will do to be remembered.
The film is based on the play of the same title( the script was created by the play's creator)
Despite being huge, The Whale is actually a minimalist film, often almost claustrophobic.
The biblical nature of the film is very clear here. The protagonist, like Jesus, goes through the Last Supper until the final farewell
Charlie has only five days to make peace with his daughter, who is evil incarnate. A daughter who doesn't think about others because she was rejected at the most important moment of her life. A daughter who, no longer thinks of people as someone good.
Throughout the 5 days we see the ups and downs
We also see the temptation by the devil ( in my interpretation it is the devil, because he wanted to renounce the fact that Charlie loved her boyfriend) and a protagonist who tries to change and make amends for the mistakes he made. He tries, above all, to apologise to everyone including his guardian or ex-wife.
5 days and every second that is pain and suffering
We see a picture of despair and disgust, but it is not because the protagonist is so powerful, but because of his mistakes that make us sympathise with him at this very moment, that he cannot do anything, even though he wants to.
Brendan Fraser is an actor often associated with comedies, although he has also played brilliant dramatic roles, but this role is so good because depression and divorce led the actor to fall into the embrace of demons that did not let go quickly.
This is by far Brendan's best film and by far the most mature of his recent filmography. Every award he has won is well deserved (the Oscars have long since gone).
Darren once again shows that he can turn a forgotten actor into a diamond on the screen.
Brendan does not play Charlie, he is Charlie at the worst moment of his life, hence the inner sadness we feel when watching this film. Of course, the actor doesn't look like the character he is playing because there was a painstaking time during filming to put on the costume, but what we see on the surface we don't see what's going on inside.
The finale is the perfect balance between emotional drama and calm as if at sea. A beautiful and moving film about trying to reconcile and come to terms with oneself

Kolejny raz Darren Aronofsky udowadnia, ze rozumie dramat i wie jak stworzyć obraz zapadający w pamięci.
Słynny jego Requeim For A Dream rozpoczął, krucjatę, która trwa do teraz. Wtedy udowodnił, ze potrafi nakręcić dramat o narkotykach i ich konsekwencjach i wyszło mu to świetnie. Kilka lat później znów rzucił widza na ring tym razem w filmie Wrestler.
Reżyser miewał tez inne filmy jednak dramaty były zawsze jego droga, gdzie ludzie zapamiętywali jego filmy na wiele lat, aktorzy grający stawali się gwiazdami na nowo.
Nowy film Wieloryb to film, który może trochę przypominać walkę jaka stoczył Randy w filmie Wrestler.
To film bolesny bez upiększania, pokazuje ostatni tydzień człowieka i to co zrobi by został zapamiętany.
Film jest oparty o sztukę pod tym samym tytułem( scenariusz stworzył twórca sztuki)
Wieloryb mimo bycia ogromnym jest tak naprawdę minimalistycznym filmem, często wręcz klaustrofobicznym.
Biblijnosc filmu jest tutaj bardzo wyraźna. Bohater niczym Jezus przechodzi przez ostatnia wieczerzę, aż do ostatniego pożegnania
Charlie ma tylko 5 dni by moc się pogodzić ze swoją córka, ktora jest wcielonym złem. Córka, ktora nie myśli o innych, gdyż była odrzucona w najważniejszym momencie życia. Córka, ktora, nie myśli już o ludziach jako o kimś dobrym.
Przez 5 dni widzimy wzloty i upadki
Widzimy tez kuszenie przez diabła ( w mojej interpretacji jest to diabeł, gdyż pragnął wyrzec się tego ze Charlie kochał swojego chłopaka) oraz bohatera, który stara się zmienić i naprawić swoje błędy, które popełniał. Stara się przede wszystkim przeprosić wszystkich w tym swoją opiekunkę czy była żonę.
5 dni i każda sekunda, która jest bólem i cierpieniem
Widzimy obraz rozpaczy i obrzydzenia jednak to nie dlatego, ze bohater jest tak potężny, a przez jego błędy, które powodują, ze współczujemy mu właśnie w tym momencie, ze nie może nic zrobić, choc bardzo tego chce.
Brendan Fraser to aktor często kojarzony z komediami, choć grywał tez w genialnych rolach dramatycznych, jednak ta rola jest tak dobra bo depresja i rozwód doprowadziły, ze aktor popadł w objęcie demonów, które nie pozwoliły szybko odejść od siebie.
To zdecydowanie najlepszy film Brendana i zdecydowanie najbardziej dojrzały z jego filmografii ostatniej. Każda nagroda jaka zdobył jest w pełni zasłużona ( Oscary od dawna sie nie liczyły już).
Darren, kolejny raz pokazuje, ze z zapomnianego ałtora potrafi wykrzesać istny diament na ekranie.
Brendan nie gra Charliego on jest Charlim w najgorszym momencie jego życia, stad czujemy wewnętrzny smutek oglądając ten film. Oczywiście aktor nie wyglada tak jak postać grana bo w czasie kręcenia był żmudny czas nakładania kostiumu, jednak to co widzimy na wierzchu nie widzimy co dzieje sie w środku.
Finał jest idealnym balansem między dramatem emocjonalnym, a spokojem niczym na morzu. Piękny i wzruszajacy film próbie pojednania sie oraz pogodzeniu sie samym z sobą
