The Lost Bus (2025) is a survival thriller and a real life story of two persons who attempt to lead 22 children to safety. It happened last 2018 Camp Fire California.
It's all about the bravery, love and courage of ordinary working people that turned into a hero.
Kevin, the bus driver and Mary, the teacher, just ordinary people, have their own family and problems. But they are in the situation to choose to help the kids before themselves. When wildfire broke out, Kevin, having a personal family problem dealing with his son. He prioritized helping the children to evaluate because he was in the area that time near the school.
While watching the film, especially as a mom. I felt fear, especially their parents waiting in the evaluation center and they couldn't even help but wait for Kevin and Mary to be safe in the evaluation .
Kevin and Mary, I really admire their bravery and how to deal in that crisis. Making it sure the kids were safe. There was a scene on the road. Chaos, it's not passable because of the fire. But Kevin went outside and Mary drove the bus. Mary keeps on saying she doesn't know. And Kevin went outside to guide the way. And everything was ok. The kids cheered for Mary. A small victory that soon their all safe. Literally not safe from the fire, but on the road, trying to escape.
Kids tried to be strong, they cried a lot, a rollercoaster of emotions and looking for their parents. And when they know their situation is terribly bad, they can't escape from the wildfire. One boy asked, “Are we going to die?” It breaks my heart 💔 But Kevin answered “Not Today”.
Their teamwork was amazing, especially in that devastating situation they did not show the children they are afraid and how they handle the situation. Especially since they don't know each other and I admire dearly their courage and strength to protect the children. The situation was getting worse, they did not if they made it out alive but they never gave up. Never! Because someone was waiting for them.
The terrible situation when local authorities struggle to manage the disaster. No communication lines, it all went down, powerless. It was really a real crisis, even though they wanted to go off the fire, the system failed. But compassion, kindness and humanity can save lives.
Kevin and Mary never gave up, drove the bus through the flames and fought their life in the middle of wildfire. With zero visibility, the road closed with no communication lines, powerless. It was a selfless act in devastating disaster.
It was a relief when they found a safe path. They saw a clear air after a rollercoaster coaster of emotions and figting for their lives.
Finally, their all safe.
I really don't know it was a real story. And in real life, everyone can be a hero, like they said not all heroes wear capes, even a teacher, a driver or even your reading this. be a hero in your own way.
Even when we were in our weakest moments, we can tell others that we were strong. A reminder that love, courage and humanity still exists.
Both Kevin and Mary are parents, it shows how far they will go to protect the children. A I salute them for selfless actions, for choosing to help the 22 children would leave a lasting impact on the community.
After everything Kevin McKaythe, real-life hero who saved 22 children from the 2018 Camp Fire. Transitioned into a new career as a teacher.
