To maximize the holiday, I decided to watch a very well-hyped movie towards the end of 2025, which was also labelled as one of the best movies of the year. I was very eager to enjoy the flow and feel the craft of the movie, but I was totally disappointed and found it uninteresting within the first few scenes I watched.

The movie started off with a group of people set to rescue their people from a refugee camp. This scene got me nodding my head because I felt it was going to be very interesting, especially with the war that seemed about to happen. But hell no — the rescue occurred in what felt like a GIF, filled with too many American shouts. You know that? I mean the constant “motherfvcking” shouts every now and then.
After the rescue, which happened within seconds, the movie moved on to even more disappointing scenes — the love-making scene involving the black girl who seems to be the main character. The following scenes were all about love-making in between, with no clear direction or connection to the main target of the movie.
When I checked, I saw that the movie was over two hours long. I nodded my head and assumed that maybe the first set of scenes were done that way without much clue, probably to keep the movie elongated and attractive to people who are overly fascinated by such scenes. I didn’t bother to go further; I simply stopped watching, with the intention of giving it another shot in the future when I’m convinced again to watch it because of the hype. Maybe my expectations were too quick, and I concluded too early instead of allowing the movie to fully unfold.
I won’t lie — the choice of language, I mean the language style with the constant use of “shit” and “motherfvcker,” put me off very quickly. I know this is an American style of English, but it was too obvious and excessive in this movie. Also, the choice to include too many sex scenes spoiled it for me, even though it may be entertaining to some extent. The black girl, who seems to be the central character, had a character development that I personally disliked. Her presence and focus in the movie felt way too much and overly forced.
Moreover, why must some scripts be so confusing and require a lengthy watch just to understand the plot of the movie? It honestly sucks!
Oh yeah, I may have downplayed the movie simply because it didn’t go my way. Maybe it’s actually perfect for you, but this is my opinion.
Thanks for reading.
