1.Arturo de Córdova was born on May 8, 1908 in Yucatán Mexico, his parents were Francisco García and Carmen Rodríguez García; from the young age of 9 years old he showed an enormous sensitivity, he was a serious child who liked to look impeccable, he was not like other children who spent too much time playing, little Arturo loved to read. He stated in an interview that he was lucky enough to have all kinds of books in his house, because his father was a passionate reader.     The young Arturo, after studying in Europe, went to Argentina, where he joined the international agency United Press as a correspondent and was later appointed assistant director of the aforementioned international agency in Chile. 3.- first film
In 1935 the producer Arcady Boytler hired him to act in the movie Celos, along with Fernando Soler, Vilma Vidal and Emilio Fernandez, against his will he accepted, and thought that an experience like that would not hurt him. At the end of the filming Arturo returned to his great passion, radio, where he felt in his element. But after the success of Celos, film producers besieged him with new proposals that he rejected, since the atmosphere of the forums stunned him and he did not like it, he had promised himself not to return to the movies. At Boytler's insistence he broke his promise and made his second film entitled Cielito Lindo, during the shooting he discovered his true vocation. He had been born to be an actor, and abandoned his activities as an announcer, but without completely detaching himself from the radio, since he continued to be part of several radio series.

4.- His time in Hollywood
In 1939 Arturo de Córdova filmed El caudal de los hijos, a movie filmed in the United States, with Fernando Soler, Blanca de Castejón, Julián Soler and under the direction of Gabriel Soria.
In 1941 he signed an exclusive contract with Paramount Pictures and a whole publicity machine began to work in favor of the new Latin star, making ambitious productions such as: Hostages (1943), For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943) with Gary Cooper and Ingrid Bergman, The Incendiary Blonde, Where Heroes Are Born (1944) with Dorothy Lamour, Adventures of a Casanova (1947) and New Orleans (1947) with Dorothy Patricks.

On his return to Mexico he told the press that he preferred to return, although in Hollywood there is money, publicity, a name and celebrity status, but on the basis of many concessions, such as, for example, the right to choose one's own roles. 5.- Romances
As for his love life, Arturo de Córdova was always discreet. On August 23, 1933, he married Enna Arana Domínguez in Yucatán, with whom he had four children: Arturo, Alonso, María Lourdes and Enna. Despite the ups and downs of their marriage, his wife never granted him a divorce.

At the beginning of his film career his name was constantly linked to numerous romances. Since then he was hostile towards the press that spread such rumors. But it was undeniable that with his bearing and his voice Arturo de Córdova was besieged by women on and off the screen.
During the filming of "La zandunga" in 1937, he met actress Lupe Vélez with whom he had a torrid romance. The relationship between the two was complex: he wanted to preserve his reputation and was horrified by the scandal that a divorce would entail. Lupe Vélez did everything she could to get him to leave his wife, even to the point of leaking their adulterous relationship to the press. But it did not go as planned. The actor's wife, who had not thought about separation, considered it humiliating that her private life was aired and refused to grant the divorce, swearing that she would never do it.

In addition to sharing with Argentine actress Tilda Thamar an evening at Carmen Miranda's residence in Beverly Hills. According to the biography written by Ruy Castro the romance ended because although Arturo behaved like a single man he had left his family and children in Mexico City. And Carmen Miranda decided to walk away and put an end to the affair, before getting more involved with the actor. However, they remained good friends.

Arturo, during his visit to Brazil for the filming of the movie "Passport to Rio", when he was asked about Carmen in an interview, smiled and with the discretion and elegance that characterized him when asked about his private life, he told the reporter that she was a charming woman who caught everyone at first sight, that he met her in 1943, at the Mocambo nightclub and that since then they were great friends.

Another actress he was related to was Silvia Pinal, they met when she was casting for the movie "Un extraño en la escalera" in 1955, he did not have much faith that Silvia Pinal could play the character, but the actress did so well that she managed to surprise Arturo, and got the role. During the filming they started dating and according to Silvia Pinal's statements their romance was fleeting but passionate.

A separate line in Arturo de Cordova's life is his relationship with the Argentinean actress and Mexican nationalized actress Marga Lopez, with whom he lived a tender love on and off the screen. She was his friend first. According to the book "Yo Marga" she was always interested in the actor Arturo de Cordova, but not in the sentimental field; but for being a very professional man in everything he did, that is, he was always moving forward in his career as an actor, something that Marga admired.

According to the book, the love affair took place after Arturo de Córdova, who had already made movies with the actress in the past, confessed his love at the opening of a restaurant owned by one of Marga's friends, but at first the celebrity was disconcerted, as she apparently did not want to know anything about love after her divorce with producer Carlos Amador, with whom she had two children.
