THIRD PARTIES DON'T ALWAYS SHINE
We are almost at the end of this incredible film saga. So far, we have grown fond of its characters and the story behind them, and there is still a little more to discover about what will happen in the next and final film of The Hunger Games. This time, we're reviewing Mockingjay Part 1, a film that is a little more relaxed in terms of action but delves deeper into the political and moral conflict that has been driving the saga.
LAS TERCERAS PARTES NO SIEMPRE RELUCEN
Ya casi vamos llegando a la recta final de esta increíble saga de películas, hasta el momento nos hemos encariñado con sus personajes, la historia que tienen detrás y todavía falta por descubrir un poco más sobre irá acontecer en la siguiente y última película de Los Juegos del Hambre. En esta ocasión vamos con la reseña de Sinsajo Parte 1, una película un poco más relajada en cuanto a la acción se refiere pero que se adentra más en el conflicto político y moral que viene manejando la saga.
SourceThis installment of the saga continues with the previous events and takes us to the “destroyed” District 13, which turns out to be an entire underground district and the source of the entire rebellion. Here we see all the damage that the Capitol has done to the districts and is doing to them, how it left our protagonist's district destroyed, while we contemplate the true power that President Snow wields. More than action, I would say that what is striking about this installment is seeing how the rebellion against the Capitol has already begun and waiting to see how our protagonists face this whole conflict.
So far, of the three, I would say that Mockingjay Part 1 is the one I liked the least, not because it doesn't have anything interesting—because it does—but because its pace is slow and sometimes works against it. All the conflict behind it, seeing how little by little the districts are gaining the courage to go against the Capitol, Katniss as a symbol of hope for all the people, how cruel and harsh the Capitol can be with the districts and their prisoners, we can see this with Peeta and Johanna, even in the last act where they rescue the other victors, we realize that it was the Capitol that let them pass as if nothing had happened.
Esta entrega de la saga continua con los acontecimientos anteriores y nos ubica en el “destruido” Distrito13, que resulta ser todo un distrito subterráneo y la fuente de toda la rebelión. Aquí vemos todo el daño que el Capitolio le ha hecho a los distritos y les está haciendo, cómo dejo destruido el distrito de nuestra protagonista a la vez que contemplamos en verdadero poder que tiene el presidente Snow. Más que acción diría que lo llamativo de esta entrega es ver como ya inició la rebelión en contra del Capitolio y estar a la expectativa de cómo nuestros protagonistas afrontan todo este conflicto.
Hasta el momento, de las tres, diría que Sinsajo Parte 1 es la que menos me ha gustado, no porque no tenga nada interesante porque sí lo tiene sino porque su ritmo es lento y en ocasiones le juega mucho en contra. Todo el conflicto que hay detrás, ver cómo poco a poco los distritos van tomando valentía para ir en contra del Capitolio, Katniss como un símbolo de esperanza para todas las personas, lo cruel y rudo que puede llegar a ser el Capitolio con los distritos y sus prisioneros, lo podemos ver con Peeta y Jhoana, incluso en el último acto donde rescatan a los demás vencedores nos damos cuenta que fue el Capitolio que los dejo pasar como si nada.
SourceAs for the characters' development, I would say there is little, if any. Haymitch quit drinking, Finnick goes from a state of denial to slowly coming out of the shell he retreated into after the events of Catching Fire, Peeta undergoes a complete transformation due to all the torture he suffered in the Capitol, and Snow shows his cruelest and most ruthless side. The icing on the cake is Katniss, who, obviously, as the protagonist, undergoes the most development. We see how she gradually takes the rebellion more seriously and how she is willing to be the symbol of a better Panem.
Let's say that the film tries to generate some excitement with that last third act, trying to save itself with all that bombing of the Capitol in District 13, but it falls a little short. It does generate enough tension to make you anxious that the underground base will collapse at any moment, but that's all it does: cause some damage and give you a scare. Overall, let's say it's okay. It's not as good as Catching Fire, let alone the first adaptation, but it works very well as a bridge to the conclusion of Katniss' story in Mockingjay Part II. The downside is that it's just that, a bridge that serves as a pathway to the next installment, and boy, have I seen bridges with better scenery.
En cuanto a la evolución de los personajes diría que hay poca, para no decir que es casi nula, Haymitch dejó las bebidas, Finnick pasa de un estado de negación a poco a poco ir saliendo del caparazón en el que se metió luego de los acontecimientos de En Llamas, Peeta tiene un cambio completamente radical por toda la tortura que sufrió en el Capitolio, Snow por su parte va mostrando su lado más crudo y sin piedad, la cereza del pastel, Katniss, obviamente por ser la protagonista es la que más desarrollo tiene y vemos cómo poco a poco se va tomando la rebelión más enserio, cómo está dispuesta a ser ese símbolo por un mejor Panem.
Digamos que la película intenta un poco generar algo de sensación con ese último tercer acto, intenta salvarse con todo ese bombardeo del Capitolio en el 13 pero se queda algo corto, sí genere la suficiente tensión como para angustiarte por si esa base subterránea se desploma en cualquier momento pero solo se queda en eso, algunos daños y un susto. En líneas generales digamos que está bien, no se acerca a En Llamas ni mucho menos a la primera adaptación, pero funciona muy bien como puente para el desenlace de la historia de Katniss en Sinsajo Parte II, lo malo es que sea solo eso, un puente que sirve de camino para la siguiente entrega, y vaya que he visto puentes con mejores paisajes.
SourceYou absolutely must see this movie to follow the sequence of everything that happens in the story, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of watching a summary on YouTube instead and not missing anything. After all, the movie only has a few strong points. My recommendation, which I'll give you right now, is that I don't think it's a bad movie at all, but I do think it could have been better adapted to the big screen. I think this will be the shortest post in the whole series, but that's how it is. Obligatoriamente debes ver esta película para llevar la secuencia de todo lo que pasa en el desarrollo de la historia, pero tampoco descarto la posibilidad de que veas un resumen en You Tube tranquilamente y no te pierdes nada, después de todo, los puntos más fuertes que tiene la película son unos pocos. Mi recomendación, ya te la cabo de dar, no me parece una mala película del todo pero sí creo que se pudo adaptar mejor a la gran pantalla. Creo que este será en post más corto de toda la saga, pero es lo que hay.
