My family went to Mindanao on April 19 this year, to attend my husband's family reunion. Because we live in the Visayas region of the Philippines. Specifically in Roxas city, The Seafood capital of the philippines. Since the tickets from our airport to General Santos are so expensive, we decided to just buy a ticket from iloilo because it's cheaper there. Iloilo is also part of the Visayas, but it's far from our house, we need to travel 2 hours by bus or L300 van to go there.
My husband is from Mindanao, We had to travel 2 hours by plane from Iloilo until we arrive to their airport. Our flight was on April 19 at 10:am in the morning (Black Saturday), Since that week is Holy week, we need to travel 18th (holy Friday) from our house to Iloilo, and we need to spend the night at lodge there to make sure we get to the airport early in the morning and don't get left behind on the plane.
I'm so glad we found a lodge from 12:nn to 11:am for only 945 ($16.50). I forgot how much we paid exactly, but I'm sure it wasn't even one thousand peso. It's a package; we have one free meal depending if what time you want to get, I prefer to get at night. And the room has Air-conditioning, but it's just like a fan. it didn't get cold even when I set it to full. I think they intentionally set it up for the fan since the fee is cheap. It's a good thing they also have an electric fan in the room, so we used that too since the weather is hot here in the Philippines.
Since it's Holy Friday, we want to go to mall or somewhere we could go for a walk, but all shops/establishment are closed that day, so we decided to stay inside the room to respect the day that we should pray.
This sunset can be seen outside our room; I think it was 6:00 pm when I took this. I could hear people walking in the procession, and some of them are praying, I wanted to go out and watch it, but since our room is in the 5th floor, I choose to watch TV and play my son. Because I will tired going up and down to that hotel.
The next day, we left the lodge at 7:00 AM and went to the airport. We took a taxi; during the trip, the driver was kind and talked to us. He told us a lot about the places we were passing through and the people who owned them. my husband was the one he was talking to, I just listened to them while I was busy taking pictures of my son and the surroundings.
We arrived at the airport at 8:45 AM and my husband checked in our three tickets, because he travels many times by the plane. Only me and my son board for the first time. So he takes care of everything during our travel. And he also carries all our belongings; three bags and a sling bag. I can't use my cellphone to take pictures because we are so busy and we need to put our cellphone on the luggage scanner, and also I'm holding my son and he's very restless because he sees a lot.
We sat down on the chairs in the 2nd floor of the airport to wait for our plane to board. We almost got left behind because we chose the wrong seat, but luckily they kept reminding us that the plane was leaving for Gensan. When my husband heard it, he was surprised because the chair where we seated the passengers was just starting to go inside of the plane we quickly went to the line going to Gensan. Luckily it wasn't closed yet so we made it there, but we were the last to board to plane haha lol.
We were already on the plane and my husband put our luggage in the overhead bin.
I'm so happy because our seat is near the window, as it's my first time. I'm so excited to see the clouds personally haha. So before the plane takes off or flies around, a flight attendant explains to us what we do if something happens, etc. and put our seatbelts on.
When the plane took off, something sounded weird that hurt the ears, not only mine but also my son; he started crying. I also saw the other passengers and their children screaming and crying too, and some adults covering their ears. Now I understand why some passengers they have headphones; they use them if the plane takes off so that they can't hear the noise of the plane, and they can relax by listening the music.
If only I knew, I will wear headphone too. Haha maybe for my next travel by the plane I will definitely bring one.(◠‿◕)
Even though the plane was flying high, still my son didn't stop crying. Maybe he's overwhelmed and feel dizzy too, like me; also, the noise of the plane still there in our ears. So even though the plane was flying me and his dad needed to stand to calm him. The flight attendant came to us and help us also.
The funny thing is, when the flight attendant took him from us. He stopped crying immediately, and if he was brought back to us, he started crying again haha so we just laughed, so the flight attendant took him and played with him. It's really obvious my son likes pretty girls hahha. So when I saw he was feeling better, I took him again because the flight attendants couldn't hold him the whole trip. I breastfeed him, and I am thankful after he cried a lot, he fell asleep too. (I'm so thankful to all kind flight attendant)
So since, my son already sleeping I started taking pictures of the clouds.
I am so really happy to see all of this, when I was a kid. As a innocent thinker, I wondered if the clouds and sky were just close. I wonder pa how to ride a plane, and maybe only rich people ride there. Because at my young age I didn't know anyone had ever been on a plane in our area. I only do if I see a plane at the sky I shout like crazy and ask a biscuit, haha, even I know they don't hear it lol. But then I saw it personally, and I experienced it.
After 2 hours of travel, our plane finally landed, I still feel dizzy, but I am thankful that our flight was safe. Since my son slept during our trip, when we got off the plane, he woke up again and was very restless because he wanted to see many things, and I didn't have a chance to hold my cellphone to take pictures because my son was my priority; it was important that we were safe.

I have flown a lot on planes already but it is still amazing for me every time and that it is technically possible is mind-boggling.
