At 6.30pm on 2nd June 1910 Charles Rolls the founder member of Rolls Royce made the first historic none stop flight from England to France and back again.
Rolls was a founder member of the British Aero Club and was the second person to fly over the Channel following Louis Blériot first powered flight over the English Channel in 1909.
The plane was a Wright's Flyer built by the Wright Brothers who in 1909 had visited England.
Rolls spent around a third of a million pounds in today's money on the achievement.
It was also the plane that killed him less than a year later when the tail fell off and he crashed from 100ft.
For the flight he did wear a life belt and had bags filled with compressed air strapped to the landing gear.
