Humans with animal characteristics - Fun worksheet for learners

in Education2 years ago

We have so much more in common with other species on earth as what we realize.

We tend to look at the animal world if we want to describe some people - for example - we want to describe the ugly or big teeth of someone we would say "Her teeth looks like that of a horse", or "He is as ugly as a baboon, he looks like a bulldog" etc.

It does not stop at the physical but will also be used for example if somebody is very stubborn he will be compared to a mule or if he is sly he will be compared to a fox.

Some people make a hobby out of watching other people.  They will go and find a spot in the mall and just sit and watch people.  What they do, what they wear, what they eat, what they look like etc.  Some people gawk at people openly, but some people will do it more discreetly from behind their sunglasses.

You can do people spotting any time or place because there are a huge variety of people to watch and can keep you busy for quite a while.

If you are a beginner at people watching, you can start off by comparing them to birds.  Just have a look at the people around you.  You will see the love birds which will be looking deep into one another's eyes and make silly sounds which only they can understand.  You will also see the vultures which just wait for break time to steal and eat your sandwiches.  They usually have long necks and are always looking over their shoulders with hungry eyes at your lunch.

In your class you will also find some Hadedas.  You do not even have to look for them, because you will HEAR them, making a huge noise in class.

You will also find the Spotted thick knee in your class, but these ones you will only recognize if you are also one of them.  They tend to just blend in and keep to themselves, unless they are threatened.

These are a few of the birds you can use to compare people with.  The more you watch people, the better you will get at it and will be able to compare them to many more animals or birds.

Answer the questions

  • Think of any 5 types of animals or birds and say which type of person you would compare them to.
  • Do you like watching people.  Why or why not?
  • With what type of animal would you compare yourself and give reasons for this choice

You can even do a little quiz here to see which bird suits your personality best.
