The Wali Nanggroe Aceh, His Excellency Teungku Malik Mahmud Al-Haythar, emphasized the importance of collaboration between schools and families in shaping children's character. True education is measured not only by intellectual intelligence, but also by moral strength and human values.

According to Teungku Malik Mahmud, true education is measured not only by intellectual intelligence, but also by moral strength and human values.

"An intelligent child without honesty and empathy is like a ship without direction. Education is not just a school's responsibility, but also the responsibility of the family as the main foundation of civilization," he explained, as conveyed by the Head of Cooperation and Public Relations of the Wali Nanggroe, Zulfikar Idris, during an educational visit by the Bunga Matahari Intercultural School Parent Committee in Meuligoe, Wali Nanggroe, Banda Aceh, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

The Wali Nanggroe added that educational success does not depend entirely on schools, but also on the strength of the household and family. "Parents are true partners of teachers. From home, children learn about compassion, responsibility, and character," he said.

Accompanied by Special Staff Dr. Muhammad Raviq, the Wali Nanggroe also emphasized that modern technology and facilities cannot replace parental love and attention. Therefore, he encouraged every family to make their home the "first school" for their children.

On this occasion, the Wali Nanggroe appreciated the role of Bunga Matahari Intercultural School in instilling the values of tolerance and cross-cultural learning.

"Aceh has a long history of intercultural relations," he said. "Since the time of the Aceh Sultanate, this region has been open to knowledge and civilization. We must continue to uphold the principle of 'Adat bak Po Teumeureuhom, hukom bak Syiah Kuala'—that tradition and religion go hand in hand, strengthening each other, not distancing each other."

The Wali Nanggroe also asked teachers and students to see Aceh not only as a place to learn history, but also as a living space filled with wisdom, mutual cooperation, and compassion within its community.

To the teachers, the Wali Nanggroe expressed his appreciation for their dedication in guiding the younger generation.

"A true teacher not only imparts knowledge, but also instills values, a love of country, and a sense of responsibility towards humanity," he said.

Meanwhile, to the students, the Wali Nanggroe advised them to never stop dreaming and to continue studying diligently.

"Study sincerely. Don't be afraid to dream, but ensure every dream is accompanied by effort and good intentions. Love your parents, respect your teachers, and don't forget your nation's cultural roots," he urged.

In closing his remarks, the Wali Nanggroe expressed his hope that the visit would bring broad benefits.

"May this visit bring knowledge, inspiration, and strengthen the relationship between the world of education and the people of Aceh. Let us make education a bridge to strengthen humanity, peace, and a better future for future generations," the Wali Nanggroe urged.[]
