Google Sheets - How to Use TEXT Function in Google Sheets

in Education2 years ago

In this post, How to Use TEXT Function in Google Sheets. Previously we looked at the SORTN function in Google Sheets. That function was useful for sorting variety of numbers and you can put them through a set of conditons that would be helpful with the content. It was not that hard but a lot of people make use of the google sheets for this reasons as they add the conditions.

So today I want to test one function for the tutorial whichis known for converting the number into the text in a specified format. This would help you with the conversion. and also variety of other text based operations too. So in that context you can see the below tutorial with some examples and it can be fun for you to try out some of the examples as well. I'd recommend you to try that out as well.

Who should use the TEXT function? There are times when you want to combine the text and the numbers. And collectively you want to improve the output. In that case it can get better with the number formating and getting the text and the number based approaches. But that would not turn out to be the good one for everyone and one has to work the right way for this to function as well. That is one reason I would say that you should try this tutorial.

Let's take a look at one of the tutorial where you can learn how to use TEXT Function in Google Sheets.

First thing you have to do now is make sure to open the Google Sheets. This spreadsheet would make it easier for you to work with the data and also you can get the output out of the text function. No need for test data here I am going to show you some really good examples for you to try out and you can learn from those examples. Some examples are given more in video and some are different here in the tutorial.

So let's go with the first example.

Check one of the date example in one of the cells in the spreadsheet.

3/3/2023

Now we make use of the TEXT function that would convert the date into the text based output.

=TEXT(A3, “dd mmmm yyyy”)

You can also use the below example to round off the dollar or say currency. You can check it out here in the below output.

=TEXT(A3, "$#")

You can also use the same with the percentage format there which would make it easier for you to work with the values there.

0.1011

Now convert this into percent format as required using the text function.

=TEXT(A2,"0%")

Another test you can do with the year format. So let's say you have a year that you want to format and output there.

12/04/2023

Now turn this year into readable one.

=TEXT(A2,"mmmm yyyy")

See the output and I am sure you would be able to read much better way and not worry about how the year and date was formated there. I personally loved the date format in that approach as well. Another interesting date is the one that is being formated there which you can easily access. You can now test this on your own. Experiment it with the sample data and the spreadsheet and see where the results take you ahead.

Next two tutorials are the function called isURL and the growth function. This would help you print out some really good output there. I have tried out some of the examples that can be super helpful for you there. So if you are into the spreadsheet, specifically the google sheets, then these two tutorials you should not miss and also make sure to take the bookmark or share that in your telegram or whatsapp as that way you would be able to keep up with tutorials too.

Your like, share and subscribe can do a lot for me. I would be able to get some traffic back. I need this so badly that my traffic needs to take a big upward trend for me to keep making the tutorials. But sadly that is not happening there. I have plenty of tutorials to cover but I need to have a stable channel and get some traffic to the same as that would be helping me wth the conent and also some activity for the channel videos.

I'll add more spreadsheet tutorial by the next week. :)
